I enjoy experiencing fantasy worlds from a familiar perspective. That's what makes the world interesting: the contrast between the fantasy elements and the player's understanding of the real world. Being swept out of the familiar and going on a strange journey is literally one of the most basic foundations of storytelling there is. The character is the player's grounding point amongst the alien setting.
