The Switch 2 is kind of a sidegrade to the Series S - it is worse in some areas but better than others. If anything developers vastly prefer to work with the Switch 2 hardware cause its overall a more rounded system. I have a powerful PC for power hungry video games at 1440p and 90+ FPS.
I have a Switch 2 for Nintendo games. I don't give a shit whether it keeps up with the PS5. I just want Switch level fidelity that can hold 60 FPS at 1080p with some extra antialiasing, some better texture work, and some more shaders. The Switch 2 is exactly that.
I simply do not care about Cyberpunk or Horizon or whatever big cinematic game doesn't park a port on the Switch. I'm here for Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Zelda, Splatoon, etc..

I could understand it selling 3.5 million units if the Switch 2 launched with a new 3D Mario or Zelda game. But it launched with.... Mario Kart. Fucking Mario Kart. Half the damn game modes are custom made from the ground up by users. MVM has seen its biggest explosion in content thanks to custom made MVM campaigns.

Happy for Nintendo but kind of sad as a gamer. I bought a Switch 2 without a pre-order at launch but haven't played it cause it's not a "high demand product."
I think part of the fun of these launches is always the supply constraint and the "woah you have a ____?". The fact that anyone can walk into a Target and buy a Switch kind of makes it feel less special.
A lot of the joy is feeling special and cool, don't really wanna play Mario Kart World when anyone with $550 can do it. Like I have more fun telling people I have an RTX 5090 then actually playing anything on my PC.

Every time a trailer for them popped up it always looked like the same thing with nicer graphics, but cars following arrows on the track for 30 laps just never looked that fun and it was always presented as just being better visuals, more cars, more track, more accurate physics.
Mario kart, need for speed and forza horizon I could somewhat keep track of, they had their own distinctions. The serious racing sims like forza motorsport, the F1 games and GT always appeared the same.

>>712396798GT games do change every iteration, its just were at that point where the games are looking way to realistic. So the best thing to improve right now its physics and weather dynamics. GT has been getting better in the graphics department since the beginning and with attention to detail down to the serial numbers on the bezels of headlights. You can watch a video on the graphics of GT7 its quite surreal how close they make the cars look like. They mostly buy the cars and bring them into a photo booth to get as accurate as possible same with driving them around real tracks. pretty interesting stuff.

>>712397706Thats the thing. The best way I could put it is: the game looks to me like the train simulator equivalent for cars. You can make everything right down to the finest detail but I really don't care if the screws are in the accurate place and would rather know about the actual game. The game then was presented like you sitting in a showroom jerking off to each vehicle between a lifeless race where the rain on running off the window was the most exciting thing to happen.
I don't doubt it has soul and I know theres a passionate appeal to some anons, but as a game it looks like the most boring racer on the market.

Also playing arcade or trying cars in real life you couldnt afford or drive with other anons or even cars of its time is quite an experience. The learning curve is incredibly difficult so its not for everyone. You have to use actual mechanics in real life to beat the best in story mode. Definetly different too other games thats for sure.
