Why did you wait too long to start making money by playing video games (the thing you already do for countless hours)?
>>712362234 (OP)I don't like it when the streamer thanks everyone who follows or subs. I find that annoying. I understand why you would do it, that makes sense. It still bugs me enough to leave.

>>712362234 (OP)because streaming is not fun when you are a small creator. It's an overglorified customer service babysitting job that makes less than working in fast food.
You probably wouldn't understand that unless you tried streaming before. It's boring as fuck.
>>712362234 (OP)from what ive seen, streaming is brutal and sduper hard to grow a viewership from. either you must be an esports pro so good at the gamer hundreds want to watch, or be a cartoon character/ jester which honestly is very hard to do as well.
I'm trying to grow, how do I attract based anons as viewers and not troons
>>712362234 (OP)Better late than never. My first YT payout arrives this month, so that's pretty cool. I've been working hard on my channel for a while now and I'm going to start streaming more. Started up again last week with Kirby's Dream Land. I had a lot of fun with it. Since I convert everything to main channel vids, I just treat the stream as a regular recording. I know my main channel won't get views, but it's been pretty disheartening that my clips channel gets absolutely nothing. So I'll drop a clip here and the twitch channel. I encourage other anons to drop links to their channels. I enjoy watching what you guys are up to.

>>712362695Agreed. Most people that succeed based on personality have the same stuff that would have made radio show hosts or TV personalities several decades ago. Do I play video games for hours on end? Yes. Am I an entertainer? No. There isn't a market for boring commentary.
My online gamer friend of 25 years finally kind or took off on twitch late last year. He has 25 pretty routine active views when he streams. He was sub 10 before that with hardly any interaction but now he's really got people and sone of these people will gift like 50 subs. I kinda stopped going into his twitch chat since I noticed he favors all his new followers over old friends. I told him spamming max ads constantly to non subs was 9ff putting and not good for growth but he didn't stop until his new discord support groups started. Anyway its kind of cultists behavior and half his streams now is him saying Jesus christ thank you so much to g8fters. He's a morbidly obese middle aged black man so I guess anyone can make it.
>>712368112That's pretty cool he has an audience now, but shame about the deteriorating friendship. What kind of stuff does he stream?

>>712369832He has a full time wfh job and streams nearly every night after work. My advice about him cooling off ads was goid advice that he eventually took from his paypiggy cult friends. Nobody wants to click some small stream and be greeted with 2 minutes of ads and then 8-12 30 second ads like every 10 minutes. I also got tired of him crying about being a single earner with muh bills when that's fuckin easy as shit compared to a guy with a family. I don't have the luxury to sit back on my fat ass playing 6 hours of games a night waiting to hit the lottery like he did.
Reminder that successful streamers arefrom relatively rich families and have years of experience.

>>712370858Yes. The quality matters. There are some first world countries where internet is cheap and PC-parts are abundant, but the majority of people in the world are poor, so it's not as easy to become a streamer as one might imagine. If you are IRL streamer (which is a little off-topic, true) you need a server, extra flagship phone, microphone... the costs add's up. If you stream at home you still need decent lighting, scene, camera, microphone, and a PC that can handle all tasks. Extremely few find enough of an audience to make a living, fewer still make enough to live a middle-class lifestyle. There's also the understated fact that you're wasting your talents and ambition playing games for several hours a day for years on end only to spend your off time doing the exact same thing. It won't take long before you'll come to see games as work and lose not only your livelihood but a hobby as well.

>>712372003Yeah I exaggeratte a little bit to drive my point across, but those are my honest thoughts/excuses I took into consideration after I thought about becoming a streamer.
One unrelated fear I have is attracting the wrong crowd. It doesen't happen very often, but there are stories about people doxing themselves and turning into lolcows who can't even sleep at night or gaining a crazy stalker.
>>712373973It's easier if you're American because to quell your fear of stalkers you can carry a gun
>>712373973anon...stop living your life in fear and just do what you want
>>712362616This. I don't even want to be pessimistic about the whole thing, but streaming isn't fun unless you have people in the chat to bounce off of, and if you want to grow an audience in order to make it fun for yourself, then you're not really "playing video games for a living" anymore, you're becoming a content creator for a living.
What really bums me out is that I always did talk to myself like an audience was watching even before lets plays, I just never had enough confidence to stream once it became a thing.
>>712374505No one says you have to do it alone. Stream with a buddy. My friend shows up in a lot of my stuff cause we just play games together. He's always fine being in recordings or streams, but I always make sure to ask anyways. We treat it as any other gaming session. He has nothing to do with the channel, he's just there cause we're buddies and he's cool with that.

>>712379869There's definitely a number of creators who have been transparent with what they make. There's a video by Let'sKanz who shared his earning after MoistCritikal showed his. I could get by with 600 a month after taxes, but I also live with my family and have very little to pay for. Other people need at least 3-4k a month to scrape. >>712362234 (OP)I didn't, I'm not some extroverted narcissist normalfag with a need for constant attention.
I liked streaming because I had a few cool regulars and lurkers and it felt like going to a bar or something. It's extremely autistic but I kinda liked having this social outlet where I could be cool and familiar with people but not have them on any friend list or social platform where they could contact me outside of the stream, like it's entirely on my terms. After having a bunch of really close friendships and circles turn to shit over time I'm overly selective and shit about who I let in close, so it was nice to get small doses of socialization like that. Streaming isn't an every/any game thing for me and the games I really enjoyed streaming went to shit.
I kinda do think I could have had some very moderate success if I did all the gay twitch sellout stuff like channel points for annoying redemptions, jerking people off for following, making meme emotes, playing more popular stuff even within my niche, making a discord, and all of that shit but I hate all that shit with a passion, I was happy with my little hangout with just gameplay + music + banter. ~5 to maybe 10 active chatters is the genuinely the sweet spot for a comfy time in my opinion, much more than that just isn't fun or comfortable for me.
You need either tits or charisma to stream successfully, and I have neither. I tried for 3 years but almost never broke more than 10 average viewers.
>>712362234 (OP)I often larp about having interactions in a streamer world in a form of daydream/showerthought monologues weighing in on the current meta/drama and so forth in my own private schizorants, but I'd never do it because I know for a fact it'd be nothing like the daydream and it'd just ruin the experience for me with shit ass reality.

>>712362695I feel like people only look at the top streamers that make actual money as the end goal or making it. But even getting a constant 10 - 20 viewers is already a huge accomplishment. Imagine wanting to play Monster Hunter or whatever, you can send a message out on your Discord and probably find three viewers whoād want to play with you on a moments notice. If you already have group of friends to play with, I guess it wouldnāt matter as much. But if youāre a lonelyfag, having a small community to play vidya with is a fucking huge win.
Sure, being a streamer and making money for nothing sounds pretty sweet. Then you become popular, all kinds of eyes are on you now, some of those eyes want to stalk you. Take VTubers for instance. How many of them have stalkers?

To think that YOU would be one of them is laughable.

I had a shit PC that couldn't stream when it was taking off. Anyway games and twitch is dying in general. All the streamers are tired 30+ year olds now.
Twitch stopped being fun. Nobody cool is on there anymore. The only who still use the site are sociopathic simp farmers and the saddest most pathetic simps

>>712407456Underage the post.
>>712407518How so? The whole point is to get people to buy subs. They are customers but at the same time the product is free so the only reason to pay is to avoid ads or to suck your dick.
>>712384102how long have you been at it?
>>712362234 (OP)It's very difficult to make it as a streamer, even if you're elite at a game that doesn't neccesarily mean you'll garner viewers, subs and a regular following. You also have to supplement your streaming with a YouTube channel which for many streamers is where the real money is.
Go on any game with a ranked queue and you'll find someone in the top .1% of the game streaming to like 50 viewers. Which isn't bad, but you need like 500+ viewers regularly and a fair amount of them to sub and donate $ or bits to you. Not to mention the entire job is based on a para social relationship with people you'll never meet giving you money directly which I think is very weird.
>>712407603Your attitude about people is juvenile.
>>712407518You don't have a community lmao. Stop believing your own marketing terms.
You don't have a relationship with your viewers. It's all parasocial garbage. Do you call them by name? You just call them chat. They're an amorphous blob of paypigs who didn't receive enough validation griwubg so they simp on twitch for some dumb ebro or egirl who doesn't give a shit.

Streaming is very mentally taxing
>have to play the game proficiently (or mega retarded on purpose which isn't braindead either)
>also have to keep up with reading chat, so your eyes are constantly switching screens
>also have to make sure you don't say any no-no words at all
If you're not a good looking guy or girl and you just start streaming and know nobody: what's the key of success? How do you gain relevance and avoid being stuck in 0-5 viewers hell for years?
And how do you make the switch between gaming and IRL and convince your sweaty audience? Gaming is fun at first but travelling is even more fun and less boring in the long run.
>>712410203start making IRL. IRL is a differnt audience though.
>>712410203unironically get on youtube and react to a bigger content creator's work in some way
either do a reply video, i.e. "I TOOK THIS FAMOUS NO-DAMAGE CONSORT RADAHN TANK BUILD INTO PVP" or just literally react and call him a faggot and explain why
you then get fed into their viewerbase
>>712410203Yeah I think gaming and IRL are largely 2 different audiences. If you want to make travel content then just make travel content, there's definitely an audience for that. You'd likely have better luck on YT than on Twitch.
>>712362234 (OP)Nobody gave a shit about me when I uploaded stuff back in 2007.
>>712410482I did this to perturbedpedro lol.
I make youtube videos as a hobby because I was tired of rotting away and decided to find hobbies. It's pretty fun. I feel like its easier to get noticed on youtube now if you have a strong thumbnail and are passionate about your topic. I keep getting recommended sub 10 view videos all the time now, I feel like its one of the best times to start making content

>>712362234 (OP)>Why did you wait too long to start making money by playing video gamesSo many gaming youtubers i knew from 2007-2010 lost relevancy when youtube changed their adsense rules. I only get like $500 a year from youtube, i enjoy making videos enough to do it, but not enough to go the extra mile.
>>712384102Gonna be brutally honest with you bro, horridly annoying voice. Couldn't get through 30 seconds of any of your videos.

>>712411779It's a killer. I want to stream so much more, but I find it extremely difficult to justify when I have a fuck ton of footage I need to edit. I intended to go live an hour ago, but I've just been finishing up a project and I'm jumping into the next one right now
>>712407124>el abominacio del americano
>>712413121what editing software is this?
>>712362234 (OP)I'm considering becoming one of those shitty essayist to explain Tokusatsu production cycles and make videos of licensed games but my accent is just too fucking bad to make profit of it.
Also it's really difficult for me to restrain myself from saying "faggot" and "retardation" in the script.
>>712413561Adobe Premiere. Here's an actually completed project that I need to edit down for clips. I use Adobe Audition for my audio editing. In the Kirby screenshot, the background was made with Photoshop and After Effects. In this pic, the waveform around the logo was made with After Effects as well. I recommend to everyone to just pirate the Adobe suite and learn that. These programs were meant to be used in tandem, so basically I can edit audio on the fly with Audition and immediately see the result in Premiere after a quick save.
Eventually you'll get to a point where you have so many templates for so many different situations that it streamlines the editing process a ton. My problem is that I'm autistic about quality and I have so much footage that I'm still bogged down by the amount of work I need to get through. I enjoy it to a degree, but I wish I had help with even just a rough edit.
>doesn't have to show his face
>doesn't have a streaming schedule, just plays whenever he feels like playing
>is able to interrupt his gameplay to discuss whatever shit comes to mind
>doesn't have to ever read subs or show them on-screen
>doesn't have to read chat names
>doesn't have to do sponsors
>is able to retain a consistently healthy amount of viewers
Other than having an entertaining personality, what does one have to do to reach this level where you can just stream like you want without ever having to do any of the annoying shit?

>>712416068I'm talking in general, whenever I have to babysit my cousins they can't do fucking anything it's insane
Also for the short period that I had to be a teacher I couldn't help but feel that most kids I was teaching to weren't apt with technology at all which really surprised me. Only 6 students on average per classroom seemed to know what they were doing it. I ultimately had to waste 3 classes to explain stuff that should be basic knowledge.
>>712416231Is there a filter that lifts after one hour? I saw streamer saying that he has to refrain from saying cunt and other terms for one hour whenever he was playing with friends
>>712416358youtube wants the first half hour or so to be ad friendly if you decide to publish your live stream. Unless some moron decides to report that deep into the stream of course.
>>712416281>I'm talking in generalFair. It's really weird how there's a generation that's so in tune with technology and then one immediately after that knows literally nothing. Is it the parents fault for not teaching? The schools fault for not integrating enough technology into the classroom? The internet's fault for turning society's attention span to mush? An old high school teacher of mine told me that covid seriously fucked with students ability to cooperate and socialized. One has to wonder the repercussion that will have on the children of that generation. We're also at the start of the age of AI. How will AI affect the youth when it's so easy to have AI do all your work, leaving nothing for the student to retain. Food thought.....some real grim food for thought.
>>712416840Thank you for explaining
>>712416840Should just be a minute into the stream. That's how it is for videos. I accidentally cussed after 40 second and was still fine. I think "cunt" specifically is a word that can fuck with your monetization if someone decides to report it. Not too long ago I was listening to a podcast where a comedian was talking about a special of hers being demonetized because someone reported her for saying "cunt" even though it was a joke and she was referring to her cat. I say it every now and then and I'm fine, so aside from the first minute, it's just some cunt being a cunt about the word cunt

It's also supremely stupid to tie your career to sites you have zero control over, if Twitch went down tomorrow none of these big streamers would make it, they'd have zero skills, pr people would not want to hire them because of their egos, they're all destined to flip burgers or continue being leeches on society.

>>712410203>>712410328>>712410561The Faustina bargain that you must take if you want to become a successful IRL streamer is this:
go to Kick and join one of Ice Poseidon's Cx events. Like if you wanted to do it as soon as possible then flying out to Austin and participating in his open Scavenger Hunt event that'll be going on at some point in the next few months and open to anyone who wants to take part would be the easiest way in.
Snipe bigger figures in that community during the hunt and make a name for yourself by willing to do crazy shit and sabotage others.
>>712421606No thanks. I'm just gonna do it my way even if it means I never get an audience.
>>712419496Companies like T-Mobile and AT&T offer 5G Home Internet packages. It's a 5G enabled router. I have unlimited bandwidth and get like 250mbps down and 15 up. I could probably get more up if I had an actual proper window elevated to shove it in.
Alternatively, Starlink.
>>712421696Well as a piece of advice you can take away by itself, aside from the Faustian bargain shit involving Ice Poseidon, you should also really be streaming to or multistreaming to Kick no matter what.

>>712420905It's true, as a steamer you have no dignity, you're a glorified monkey in a cage and viewers only want the monkey to throw shit.
>>712422295You can try and act smug all you want, it still doesn't change that becoming a fulltime streamer means you'll never get true respect ever again
>>712362616This. Then people coming to your stream to tell you about what a bad day they had n their dog died n all the other crap you just don't care about, like you're supposed to be some therapist

Even though he has his own website dedicated to playing that one single skill, every faq you could imagine is there yet droolers just bombard his chat with nonsense. Fuck that
Cause I don't really play much games anymore.
I mainly just dick around, goon, or go do AI images to goon to.
Because life is unfair. If you haven't made it already, it's because you're unlucky and haven't sucked the dick of bigger streamers.
I've tried streaming for what feels like an eternity now and fucking no one watches, and the only interactions I get are with bots.
Meanwhile my brother got unemployed, started streaming, and just got lucky, quickly got 100+ viewers in a fraction of the time I've tried, and said he raked in $1000 a month but then he stopped after he got a job again which paid better. Wish I was lying.
Luck plays a huge role in your success. And I have none of it, and stopped trying because fate has it that I must forever be a fat poor loser.
And take note that many of the big name streamers were already successful before hitting that Go Live button.
