VR is so dead no one even cares to shitpost about it. Holy shit. I haven't used my Quest 2 in months. HL Alyx is still the only good VR game I've played and it came out over 5 years ago.

What the fuck happened?

It's still too inconvenient to really catch on with the masses. Motion sickness is still a problem with many people, made worse by VR games often have poor performance; lack of major game releases; existing controllers all kinda suck for various reasons; FoV still hasn't been fully solved; motion tracking still hasn't been fully solved; zero viable solution for movement/walk tracking.
It has not matured enough for people to care.

I use VR to have sex with men (and women) who look like anime girls in vrchat. That's it. I don't use it for anything else.

hows that? I never got into it, I just had awkward conversations with randoms and never tried it out again

>It's bulky.
>It presses against your face and the back of your head and leaves with with red sore rings around the eyes.
>You have to play standing up.
>It hurts the eyeballs and you feel like shit after playing.
>Airlink fucking sucks donkeys ass, it looks like shit and if you move your head too much it lags and reprojects. It's a fundamental limitation of wifi, bandwidth loss with movement, there's no fixing it.
>You completely remove yourself from the real world and if you're playing in a room with stuff you never stop thinking that you may hit something.
>Games are slow and samey because the device and user comfort limits what developers can do.
>Most games are shovelware.

Maybe you're retarded? I set up "VR" as a highlight in 4chan X and there's VR thread literally every single fucking day.

I've had fun when I've used it, but my room is just too small. I've played Alyx for under three hours, but I've had several close-calls of me grabbing the back of my monitor and yanking it forward like a retard.

/v/ is too fast to sustain threads on most niches, including VR. I cope with the thread on /vg/. It'll hurt you in other ways, but at least I can still play multiplayer games with other anons on it.

I could have sworn the one time I went in there it was literally just a VRchat general

i wish vr wasn't so fucking dead, every few months i'll check if there's some new vr porn games on f95 but it's just collecting dust in the interim.

because the that's the only thing low quality faggots can post about
basically need to ignore 95% of the general and you'll find some people that want to play your game

PC VR is too expensive for normalfags so is dead
Mobile VR looks like shit and is mostly failed zucc normalfag shit

this basically. same as /v/ itself really, signal to noise ratio is really low sometimes but you can filter "subthreads" with recursive hiding easily enough.

There's no actual open standard, every company tries to build their own proprietary services and ecosystems. What we need is an actual open VR metaverse that is as easy to navigate as a web browser and lets you create anything on your own web server.

Because no one wants to strap on a fucking scuba mask and act like a retard. Imagine having a dedicated empty room so you can crawl around like a baby, I'd rather have that space for something adult. Like my private library, my wine collection, and a fine ivory pipe so I can sit in a big comfy leather chair and phonepost on /v/ while smoking a fine tobacco between sips of my fine beaujolais.

I remember reading something about how Unreal Engine games would all be playable in VR thanks to a mod or something.
Does anyone know about it or has any idea if the project is still a thing?

UEVR is still a thing and getting updates but you have to be aware of its limitations. It lets you hook into a UE game and translate vr controller inputs to gamepad, as well as emulate camera aiming with the vr controllers. There's also additional features like being able to hijack a first person object (like a gun) and have the vr controller completely control the orientation and aim of said guns.
Everything else you need to code yourself. No easy holster system with motion control and certainly not manual reloads.

>have headset
>have next to no free space
>confined to shit you can do without moving
it's not vr's fault, but it still sucks.

Is it already out?
Or at least a list of games that have already gotten a VR by others?

it's been public since january last year and i've used it in a bunch of games
only a dozen games get specific scripts or plugin to fix or improve vr compatibility of which one of the most notable is satisfactory where the guy implemented full on wrist menu/display and other stuff

I have calculated that the earliest point by which full dive VR will be a reality and good will be around the year 2200.
Full dive VR will recruit your body's lucid dreaming facilities.
Based on current rates of progress in neuroscience, it will take at least 100 years to perfect such tech.
I do not think any lucid dreaming tech startup will appear in the next 10 years. I believe it's very optimistic expecting it in the next 40 years. I think the first such startup appearing in the next 60-80 years sounds about right.
Hence, the 2200 figure.

4d animated radiance fields are already working and i've tried one
problem is you need up to hundred of cameras to capture every angles and the total bandwidth is like 30 gigabytes per second
not only that but they run like absolute dogshit on current hardware
