Are you excited for Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2? On a scale from MindsEye to Bloodlines 1, how unfinished is it going to be?

Unfortunate side effect of being forced to make VTM games as modern day titles using the v5 ruleset. The studio can absolutely do period pieces. Still Wakes the Deep is a pitch-perfect depiction of 1975 Scotland. If they'd wanted to capture 2003 America they could have.

So the black chick runs the Atrium. They announced the art book this week, and it has her on the cover with a birdcage. I believe the implication is that she performed some kind of ritual on you while you were in stupor, carved symbols into your body, and stole your powers. Then set you loose.

There's probably some kind of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided/Total Recall ruse going on where you're actually a puppet trying to root out a traitor, under the guise of being an outsider. Then again, that might be too obvious.

Apparently Fabien is a vampire detective with a childlike view of the world. But it's not clear what his relationship to you is. It's also possible the game is undergoing pretty significant rewrites in the leadup to release.

Inclusivity clashes with artistic vision, because black people are not aesthetic.
That fat nigga from the first game was based though. "Diversity" needs to lean towards that rather than trying to make a fundamentally unattractive race attractive.

Still Wakes the Deep had very greasy looking characters. Someone at the studio must really like the look.

IIRC, dialogue already confirmed this. Might have even been in the extended gameplay footage, talking to the "NO NO NO!" Nos.

The player might be a fake Elder or something or somehow a plant designed to destabilize the city. But that would undermine the whole "you choose your background based on how you answer questions in dialogue" approach. Because if the reveal is that it's all bullshit and you're just a random vampire brainwashed into think they're "the nomad" then it's going to be dissatisfying.

The open world is sizeable and you can climb on the rooftops and stuff, but it is a touch concerning that the PC Gamer hands-on said that they were playing the opening 30 minutes of the game and it wasn't clear to them why the game was open world. This is important because MindsEye just released and it had the exact same problem. Supposed there's sidequests and random NPC encounters and open world crime systems and stuff, but we'll see.

I don't entirely buy that, because he's apparently a good guy (or at least he thinks he's a good guy) detective. In the PC Gamer preview (which I had screenshots of, but not on this PC) there was an objective where it was like "Find Fabien".
Anonymous No.712417087
>>712416926
Ah, here it is. The objective is "Follow Fabien's scent." That could really mean anything, though.

If it's even half as good as vtmb1 it'll still be a nice game. The base concept is just too good

well from the gameplay shown his consciousness is literally inside of Phyre's head and as far as I know that can only happen through diablerie
Anonymous No.712417976
>>712417360
You're absolutely right, but it could rewritten into something as retarded as "Phyre woke up with an earpiece". Think... Doyle from Far Cry 1. ("DOYLE, MY ARM IS TURNING GREEN!")

Changes have definitely been made. If you go back to August 2024, they talked about how the game was being delayed from late 2024 to early-mid 2025. Among other things:
>The extra time gives us an opportunity to adjust certain areas, such as Fabien, and incorporate other community feedback.
>We will also use the time to expand the game’s story, and now Bloodlines 2 will have more than twice as many endings as its predecessor.
Something is definitely amiss if you read some of the older articles that refer to Fabien as a thin-blood.
>The other half of the equation is Fabian, a thin-blood vamp who’s mysteriously trapped inside Phyre’s head, serving up both commentary and context to the now-unfamiliar world. Thomas describes the character as an “anchor” to the modern world and a “compass” for the player - should we choose to listen. Phyre won’t understand the new world order or how phones work, for example, so Fabian could just be our best friend.
(I can never spell Fabian's name right. Fuck it.)
Before he was a thin-blood, now he's a Malkavian and also a detective... So...

Okay, so I just skimmed Reddit and found a post from the community manager:
>He was [thinblood] an earlier version, but one of the things that we've reworked is that he's now a Malkavian. :)

It seems plausible that they've scrapped the whole voice in your head angle and instead he's just a vampire detective that you have phone calls with. That seems possible.
Anonymous No.712418850 >>712419286
According to this article, he's still a voice in your head.
>After I wake up in an abandoned Seattle building, I immediately murder a security guard—a violent statement of intent. After that, I'm in tutorial mode, accompanied by the voice in my head: former vampire PI, Fabien. Why is he in my head? Well, that's one of several mysteries that make up this surprisingly investigation-focused RPG. The tutorial is stealth-heavy and pretty standard, but once I'm out of the derelict building, things really pick up. Now I can flex my vampiric muscles.
