It's not really. He can travel back to the past, but he can't majorly change it, that would cause a time paradox. That's why he got poofed away at the end, because if he was there any longer everything would go off the rails. Like yeah Lea and Romeo still died, but now she dies knowing that P will go on to fight in her stead and makes things right, which he does do.

Yeah. Its balancing is really weird because for new players, it's best to beat Overture right before traveling to the alchemists' isle if they care about the story, so the visions at the beginning, Arlecchino's mangled body, and the final choice are more impactful. But it would be such a huge jump in difficulty at levels 60-70 with little to no ways to counter enormous amounts of damage because the new defensive parts are only slightly better than their base game counterparts and enemies, especially bosses, drop very little ergo to level up without farming.

I love Lies of P for the combat but I wish people would make games like Dark Souls 1 again as it gives me a very unique feeling and it's the reason I like to play metroidvanias. I've heard Lord of the Fallen is more like Dark Souls 1 than other games so I'm going to purchase it when on sale. Regarding why we can't go back, what do you expect the devs/publishers to do when the sales figures for the games looked like this before Sekiro was released.

This is probably the best bow weapon i've seen in arpgs, and it doesn't need any sort of melee gimmick to function properly, like simon's bowblade.
Even though the fable generation per shot is fairly limited, you can still quickly amass fable for the giganigga shot because of how fast you can shoot too.

I also beat the croc with it and it's still at upgrade level 3. It's amazing for exploring levels and just thinning out crowds from a distance. It's low damage per shot but the dodge heavy play style is just fun and I like constantly getting arrows off. NTA, the levels are pretty simplistic, even the more interesting ones (like act 2 factory) are fairly easy to navigate and fully explore BUT are a step above just being a long ass corridor like they were on the base game (factory and mall excluded). Thats not a terrible thing as it allows you to fully comb them with just a bit of backtracking which i appreciated.
Bosses were just ok imo except for the last one which i really enjoyed, being pretty similar to Laxasia. The rest were ok, perfectly fine. Also the humanoid minibosses were more challenging than in the base game

>levels
A mixed bag. Every level looks and feels unique, but enemy placement is all over the place. The first levels are full of beef walls that hit hard as fuck, but later on, you fight one or two regular carcasses or slightly different puppets at a time. Some of the new enemies feel a bit underused, like voluptuous female puppets that shove their feet in your face.
>bosses
All mop the floor with what you fight in the base game. Some have arguably bullshit moments like the final boss, the second-to-last boss, and the first one (but only because of the camera), but their mechanics and designs feel quite refreshing.

It's like half the base game in terms of content and length, so I wouldn't say it took too long to make. If anything, it feels a bit rushed thanks to being shadowdropped and various bits of its story and gameplay, hints at other outcomes, which simply don't exist, as well as how some of the base game characters having no new dialogue after beating the DLC.

You have the wrong amulet equipped. She's a human not a robot. Switching to Murderer Puppet's Amulet will give 15% bonus damage.
In stage 1 she takes half damage from physical, because of her armour.
She is 15% weak to Acid in both stages, because she is human.
I used Acidic Crystal Spear blade on the Pistol Rock Drill Handle.

Cutscene and second healthbar is a separate issue, not relevant to the Parade Master. Although I do think Lies of P over-uses that trick. It's bad because of its over-use, not because of its use.

A second phase within the same health bar is good design in many ways. It introduces the player to the boss's moveset over time, as they get better at the fight. Making the fight less overwhelming. It's also a good way to ramp up the intensity over time, so that the end of the fight is a proper climax.

I haven't played Lies of P yet so i don't know how it is, but personally my issue isn't the amount of hit bosses do, but the difference in "turns" between you and the bosses.
It's fine to have 10 hit + boss attack if I can whack them after that. The issue in shit like modern souls is that they do those 10+ hit, and then the only thing you're allowed to do that is some lame R1 twice and that's it. Also lack of combat diversity (again, just R1 or R2, having 1 combat art in ER doesn't make up for that).
Systems like the ones in Khazan or Wukong has been my favorite recently just because of that, they feel more dynamics and you get to do shit on your turn too.

There's no "turns" in Lies of P since every parry contributes to breaking bosses posture bar, similar to Sekiro. So even when youre technically defending youre still working towards doing dmg.

Then the bosses posture bar breaks, and you have time to do your big combo and then do the riposte attack.

(if youre running fast weapon you can do dodge+attack instead, both playstyles are viable; my 1st playthrough was like 90% dodging with dexfag weapon and it was perfectly fine)

Here is the issue. I actually went back and replayed DS1-3 earlier this year.
Dark Souls 1 (haven't played since the original PC release) still has the best atmosphere and feeling of exploration out of all of the games. The problem? It is now so easy that it is kind of boring. I've never been a great Souls player, yet I one shot nearly every boss with just a standard ass build. No crazy cheese red tearstone ring giga buff pyromancy crap. I played a dex build and was just able to very easily beat everything. The DLC was the only part where I died more than once to a boss and it felt like something of a challenge. I died more to environmental stuff and trying to make janky jumps than I did bosses/enemies.
Dark Souls 2 still had pretty good level and exploration despite everyone memeing on the levels and the "paths" and stuff. However, the janky animations and hitboxes hurt the game a lot. I died way more than DS1, but I didn't feel especially challenged. Most of my deaths felt like bullshit.
Dark Souls 3 I think was OVERALL the best balance of difficulty with exploration. It was not as good as 1, but better than 2, and the bosses were much harder. I died a lot. However, there were plenty of levels I was not a huge fan of (the cathedral just sucks), and I think some of the bosses do start to go a bit too far. Dancer is just an annoying ER-tier fight in DS3 and I died to her more than any other boss, even DLC ones.

tl;dr - It is hard to make a game like Dark Souls when it is now so easy that it undermines the atmosphere.

Puppet String (assuming you time it right) is effective as always, you can use Aegis to take off a LOT of pressure from his longer combo strings, the two new ones (Icarus and Cataclysm) are highly effective as well, since Icarus is basically free damage and Cataclysm does both good damage and builds stagger

Souls is a dungeon crawling format where difficulty should be evenly distributed across player limitations, the environment, asymmetrical enemy encounters, knowledge checks, preparation, and combat. Everyone that plays these wannabe action game souls-likes should know by now the shallow and dishonest result of consolidating difficulty into enemy movesets alone. Seriously, the difference between the NPC treatment in post-DS2 souls and LoP is monumental.

the market definitely fell in a bit of a rut with devs aping souls games just because it's the trend even though sometimes it would be beneficial to let go of some mechanics. For example I don't know why Khazan has "soul retrieval" after death, it has never bothered me but also I have no idea what it's supposed to add to a game like that.

I'll get to that one too eventually, but isn't it action-focused as well?
