So the issue was I couldnt on the switch itself, it had already done the transfer and wouldnt let me proceed after I rebooted it unless I formatted
I could have moved them to my PC, but I didnt have a SD adapter and, to be frank, I couldnt be bothered to go through it as I just wanted to play something
It was retarded of me to assume that somehow by formatting during this set up would spare the files I just transferred, but in my defence, it was like 3am, I was tired, and the switch was going through its set up phase transferring shit so I kind of just assumed it was normal and that my data was safe, and that it was going to format THEN transfer and what I thought was a transfer before (when it locked up) was just prep or whatever

im partially to blame, but it was kind of weirdly set up, like, why transfer the data to a new SD THEN ask to format it at all? This is the from-nintendo SD, why was it not pre-formatted or why didnt the setup format first? who knows.

My saves are safe though, they were uploaded to the magic cloud.

Holy fuck I got up to S+9 last season and the rank reset is fucking killing me. People in S move so slow playing a long range weapon is like walking through a narrow hallway behind a group of people inching as slowly as possible and sometimes stopping entirely while completely refusing to acknowledge your existence. I got so tilted that I played a game where I tried to see how hard it was to keep one person in front of me at all times and I was stuck out of range of anybody sitting there twiddling my thumbs while the enemy team got the objective and our painbrush sat around in base randomly attacking pixels of ink and trying to back up behind me. yeah a butload of places in splatoon 1 had walls in sneaky places like that, for example the first wall shown here in bluefin depot in 1 is inkable so you can paint it and go around the camping spot of most chargers to take them by suprise, and the 2nd one can be used as a hiding/trapping spot if you go ink it and squid from the side closer to the water
most maps have little spots like that where you can either hide from someone or wait for an ambush
