Capcom's first successful game was 1942 where you play an American and kill Japanese. They've always been Americanized, more than any other JP developer.

This. That's really all there is too it. Dragons Dogma 2 would be a $350M disaster for so many other companies. Capcom just shrugged their shoulders and moved on. They're launching three games next year and at least RE will do gangbusters.
They're like how major publishers were back in the 90s and 00s. Even a failure can be made up for in other areas with ease.
