>>712427882 (OP)In my recollection, back then we thought of it as the downfall of gaming - at the start of the 2000s there were shitty simplistic console games of the previous era, and patrician beautiful PC games with complex gameplay and beautiful graphics.
I think back to 2002 and remember how I felt when I saw Battlefield 1942 and MGS2 on the PC side by side. Needless to say, we didn't think we missed out on much with skipping consoles.
Every PC game, like Far Cry, Doom 3 or HL2, Morrowind either didn't receive a port at all or was downgraded to shite on consoles.
Then came the Xbox 360 generation, and suddenly making PC games was 'uneconomical', and going forward, all games were to be multiplat, dedicated servers were gone. Then suddenly every FPS had small maps (small RAM), shit controls (gamepad lol), tiny lobbies (no dedicated servers despite PAID online), blurry textures etc, I could go on.
And there was WoW, and Blizz games in general, which didn't even come out on consoles.
Whole shit was so ass, that out of my gaming friends (basically 80% of my HS mates) most of them didn't even touch a console, it was seen as a novelty at best.
