I see neither Earth Shield nor Mana Tide Totem on his bars, should be a thing in what presumably is WotLK. You're not wrong about a lot of the bloat, however. The threat meter thing could have been useful for some bosses but if I remember correctly threat is basically free by WotLK anyway.
