Soul, like kino, cannot be described as it is something beyond human comprehension. Telling me to describe soul is like Telling me to describe the color "orange" or one's own identity. There is no way to explain something soulful. You just nerd to have a soul in order to experience it. The best I can do is show you things that have soul. It is up to you awaken your own spirit to get it.

I just replayed this the other day and the elite 4 used 4 full restores in a row to drain my ludicolo of giga drain uses

That has nothing to do with the AI but with the shitty decision to give trainers items to use.
Items should be out-of-battle only in my opinion.
The AI in pokemon is terrible because it completely neglects one of the most important features of the battle system, switching pokemon.
