So what was your favorite?

Mini and Max. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how they generated the rooms the player travels through when you’re microscopic size.

This. It could have been its own game. I'm glad I played it if nothing else from the collection.

haven't played mini and max yet but i absolutely loved Avianos and Rock-on Island. i tried to play them all chronologically, skipped barbuta and something else, and the only games i played out of order were the campanella games and sunset drive. got a little burnt out on the Rock-on cherry

i'm playing this again today, too, for the first time in months, neat to see a thread on it

actually planning on streaming it in 3 hrs at twitch /theblode1337

For me, it was Bushido Ball

Rail Heist, easy. I'm still miffed they never added a user level creator for it (and a couple other games too, but especially Rail Heist).

Party House. Pretty sure some clones will start to pop up in the store.

Other runner ups are Ninpek, Mooncat, Velgress, Campanella, Kick Club

so fun in multiplayer i sometimes forget how short the main game is

going from dying almost instantly to only dying once in the entire game felt good. i was momentarily worried it was going to let me keep looping for hours

I might move Planet Zoldath and Cyber Owls up one slot

I was really fond of Barbuta and Mooncat. Grimstone is alright too, but I have the classic Dragon Quest autism.
>>712437949
I’m realizing now Windjammers 2 felt over-designed. Bushido Ball is perfect.

I liked Grimstone more than I thought I would, but I would struggle way more with it after they patched it and nerfed Umbra heals/res

I respect your opinion and understand it is made with Single Player in mind most likely, but there ain't any other game in this collection like Multiplayer Quibble Race.

Quibble Race was fine to trophy, but I got so mad at it when trying to cherry it. Its just 100% about getting enough money, so you get bet all on the last round and hope your 1:8 underdog wins.

I forgot the name but that little pink jumping thing that you have to alternate jumps to get around the map.

Mini and Max, Party House, Avianos, Porgy, and Pilot Quest. Porgy really surprised me because I kind of hated it at first but then the game really opened up. Quibble Race was also weirdly addicting but there also wasn't all that much content to make it really comparable.

Bushido ball is dangerously good.

I’d put Campanella 2 in S tier, too. Can’t stop doing runs even after the cherry. The only flaw is that the game doesn’t have a high score for it.

I just didn't love the 2d run'n'gun parts of Campanella 2. And fuel-on-kill is also such a mandatory upgrade. Other than that, its great

That I can agree with, not nearly as varied as the layouts could be for stages. I still get surprised by some of those segments where I’m like goddamn, how high up does this map go. It’s hard to get the scrolls sometimes but at least it’s fun. The run n gun segments only get more engaging when you reach Gut and Vaalpolis.

I think what’s bittersweet about UFO 50 is that they spent years working on this and I doubt they’ll make standalone sequels for any of them when there so much more that could be done with Party House, Rail Heist, Mortol, Campanella, etc. It kills me that this might be the last we ever see of these brilliant concepts. I know the old saying is to leave them wanting more, but fuck.

I don't know what my favorite game is. None of them really got me excited. The indie spirit isn't the same as the arcade spirit of truly retro games.

the arcade approach to games is obsolete. people want to complete their game, not chase endless high scores

Mortol is a fucking masterpiece
UFO 50 is easily last year's GOTY and it would still be on my 3x3 if not for Deltarune

I don't think any single game is great on its own
It's a meme but the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts, the loop of dusting off a new game -> sucking ass at it -> figuring out how to play it and getting the cherry is really rewarding and fun. The concept of making a collection of fake retro games is pure genius

Blame the tiermaker, the guy who uploaded it originally has them the wrong way around and now every tierlist has to deal with that

Maybe, truth be told it’s possible but I overthought it to the point I had to look that up, it was the only thing as I solved the rest.
The frustrating thing is that I already knew about the tea so I kept trying to fix the sink or search elsewhere for the code because I thought the wall was the thing they were talking about

A ton of them are good but the most original and creative:
>rail heist
>attactics
>warptank
>mortol
There are also the slow puzzle ones but i'm dumb so don't care.
