There's also the fact that Nintendo used to be synonymous with quality. They used to be a brand people could buy from and trust that they where getting a quality product from, so seeing them fall so far is a huge insult to the people who remained loyal to the brand.

It makes me very happy that I switched over to pc more than a decade ago so I don't have to deal with this bullshit.

Honestly the Switch 2 feels really premium in your hands.
There's a lot of stuff they've done under the hood to also improve the tech, for example the gyro and accelerator now work in tandem to prevent joycon motion drift.
You know how you have to keep 'recentering' the joycon/motion controls by pressing Y for games like Splatoon or the port of Super Mario Galaxy? That's significantly better to the point of being a non-issue on the Switch 2.

Not defending $80 games though, the only possible defense anyone could even have is that if MKW doesn't do microtransactions and season passes like every other $70 game and still gets consistent updates then you could kinda view it favorably, but really you should get the bundle if you can.
I bought the bundle while on vacation in a state with no sales tax (US) and I honestly think $500 flat was a pretty good price for everything I got.

having owned every nintendo handheld since the GBA, the switch 2 has the best build quality by far, especially for the launch model. The jury is out on joycon drift but they did completely redesign the socket so hopefully the drift happens less frequently like a gamecube controller or wii nunchuk despite not being hall effect.

I can agree with you on most of that, but my main gripe with them outside of the $80 is the massive amount of patent trolling they do. They have even shut down people who stream their games and even fan tournaments if their game, seemingly just for laughs.

I've heard both good and bad things about the switch 2, but I haven't bought a handheld in almost a decade, so I am going to abstain from talking about a product that I know little about. A lot of anons here say the build quality is good, and I'm happy for them. If you're going to shell out $450 you better be getting a product you're happy with.

Nintendo used to be the defacto face of gaming, but today they seem more like an enemy to anyone who doesn't buy exclusively Nintendo merch. From a business point I can see why they do what they do, but I still despise them as a company. They no longer seem to care at all about the people who keep them in business.

Nintendo is protective of their IP and patents but that was also true back in the NES/SNES games too. They’ve always been like this, people just remember the games and hardware not the scummy business practices. Obviously Nintendo is a corporation and they are not my (or anyone else’s) friend, but I just don’t see them being the most corrosive force in games when they still haven’t embraced industry standard practices like flooding their paid console games with skins and battle passes, day 1 deluxe editions with DLC and early access, and devoting hundreds of millions of dollars to gambling on a success live service games. If anything the Switch has been great for smaller nintendo studios making a wide variety of niche games, we even got metroid dread after the series basically being dead for nearly two decade
