It is quite literally not possible to run modern games without fog. They don't add them for looks, they add them to make GPU render less and it's not just an unreal engine thing, Elden Ring, for example, uses it everywhere for the same reason, it's an open world. The MCC is pretty bad. First off, it took about a decade to get it where it is now and not because it's experimental technology on the forefront of Human knowledge, with MILLIONS of Microsoft dollars.
The front end fucking sucks and it looks like it was modeled on Windows 8 Metro. They should have preserved the unique front ends for each game in a launch menu with a consolidated mode for multiplayer akin to the MCC.
On top of that, the Halo pc ports pretty awful, Gearbox's Halo 1 port was actually abysmal, and they referenced those to build the remasters which is part of why they suck and remain broken even after Halo 1 and 2 got their recent fixes.

What a superficial thing to be hung up over. You can clearly tell UE looks like Marcus Fenix. You can tell he’s from the gears of war franchise. You can tell he’s dressed like he’s from the first or second gears of war game. Not a single remake, ever, in existence, has ever copied the original work down to a t. That doesn’t automatically make them bad. You need to learn to judge a work on its own merits. The remake looks good. It changes things but never to the point where they’re unrecognisable. You literally have to nitpick to find something to be upset about.

Also if you weren’t dishonest you would have mentioned how gears 3 completely messed up the colours of the classic skins. Cole is running around dressed in bright white, where as in 1 and 2 his armour is almost grey. Baird has giant lights on his shoulders, which weren’t there in gears 1 and 2. Marcus’s pouches are also too brown in game compared to 1 and 2.
