10 is objectively worse than 7. I won't be using 11. Whatever comes after it will likely be even worse, so one has to stop using it at some point.
Is it really that hard to make a new system better or at least on par with the old one, and not worse? Even for a colossal global-scale IT corporation?

I'm only doing it for gamepass and minecraft bedrock edition, I mostly use steam and java, but I can basically get gamepass for free, and bedrock unironically has some unique mods/experiences that I like to try out here and there, I wish modding/content was universalized don't get me wrong, and I still do prefer Java.

The perfect example of how Windows 11 works is that in W11 you have to click twice to adjust volume, in W10 you only need to click one time. It's a small but extremely annoying change with no possible benefit in any use case. Everything in W11 is like that, just doing things slightly worse for no reason.

I upgraded years ago. It works better than 10 in almost every way besides some annoyance with the taskbar and duel monitors. That's 1 step back but it'a been more stable than 10 for me and better at stuff like VR and remembering multiple window locations. I only waited a year for 11 to get some fixes and tried it out. It's pretty okay once you disable a few things and customize it, like any other OS really.

I've turned into a consolefag after playing on PC for most of my life. Diagnosing obscure problems on Windows is just some of the most frustrating shit to do ever. I might eventually get a fully-fledged Linux pc, but for now the Steam Deck and ps5 covers all the games I'm interested in.

I'm not saying all your gripes are not issues, they are, but most of them are a nothingburger and the rest can be solved with ease. Or you could just stay on an old OS, and pray you don't get clapped by a CVE because "you're sensible."

>it's hardware-level DRM, a persistent identifier that can't be changed
you're explaining it wrong.
>the tpm performs crypto operations and holds unique keys that are signed by some corpo (e.g. microshaft, jewtel). these keys can be revoked anytime (hardware ban, like when your cfw switch gets banned by nintendo)
>when running a program your computer is directed to perform checks with the corpo that runs the (((attestation service))) to make sure you're running only whitelisted everything (bootloader, OS, drivers, signed uncracked program, etc.) to ensure you're can't pirat- I mean can't get hacked by evil russians!
>since the TPM performs crypto functions it also implements shit like memory curtaining (i.e. programs make their memory inaccessible, using keys that are outside your control) and (((sealed storage))), i.e. programs store files encrypted with keys that you can't access, ensuring vendor lock-i- I mean that your files are safe from russian hackers!
>the cherry on top of the shitheap is that programs can implement this crap called (((chip to cloud security))) i.e. programs run on a (((secure enclave))) isolated from all other software and downloads encryption keys off a vendor's server, ensuring absolutely no pirac- I mean nefarious russian hacking can take place at all
tl;dr TPMs are hardware DRM. if it was actually about security they'd let the local admin spoof attestation checks and also set his own keys instead of relying on the signatures of megacorporations

they don't have to ban anything. I don't think they'd dare at this point. however if you need an example of (((remote attestation's))) tyranny, check out (((play integrity))). people who install custom roms, regardless of root status, are barred from accessing a wide range of apps from banking and virtual wallets and insurance to jewflix and other paid shit. of course proper firewalls, backups, and adblock require root so it obviously works in jewgle's favor

Using Bottles is a pain in the ass because of Flatpak. I've gotten it to run games located outside of the Flatpak sandbox by doing a "flatpak override com.usebottles.bottles --filesystem=..." command, but I generally find it easier just to install a game into Bottles' prefix. If I'm running a GOG installer, I'll even copy the installer executable into the prefix's C:\Users\whatever before running it, just to be sure Bottles can see it without adding any filesystem override bullshit.

I'll pay the good goy 30 bucks and just upgrade next year. I don't have the money/interest in building a PC In a scramble blitz. I'd rather do it with my leisure next year. It's their own damn fault for making windows 11 require some new fangled shit. I got my Mobo in 2018 and while that's old at nearly 7 years ago, I don't recall that being an issue in past windows updates.
