That scene with Kriea on Nar Shaddaa with the beggar is so incredibly contrived and embarrassing. It's funny nerds have tried to make up lore justifications and interrogate Kriea's philosophy for what is in reality a simple case of bad writing (see also: the entire prequel fandom)

Something I never hear people talk about is how KOTOR 1 is a significantly prettier game than 2. It's like 2 is straight up missing an entire pass of visual polish. Taris in 1 is a genuinely gorgeous location, all the planets are. I like the locations in 2, but purely graphically they are all significantly downgraded compared to 1

Nar shaddaa was extremely lazy. A bunch of copy-pasted boxes stuck together

Is there one guy that spams this or do lots of people actually care about the nar shadaa scene to the point that they're butthurt about it in 2025

Kreia was never meant to be right, she was a nihilistic viewpoint on Star Wars. The Jedi are flawed but still a better force of good than anyone else in the galaxy. If anything the republic should get its head out of its ass and stop fucking up.

Every somewhat popular series has a handful of samefag autists that attempt to create their daily general thread on /v/. Sometimes the threads get a few posts and die. Sometimes they hit bump limit.

its not contrived its just that people are stupid and dont understand the point of her character is to force you to question the binary good side or bad side mentality youve adopted because of the franchise and the gameplay, there is correct answer because she wants you to doubt your motivations for choosing either act

naw the scene is fine, it isn't about finger wagging about either morality, but to teach you that your actions can and do have longer reach consequences that you must consider.

yeah, 2 was rushed IIRC and it was Obsidian's first project so it was kind of a shitshow. The game is lucky the writing for most of it is pretty good otherwise it would probably never be talked about ever

It's incredibly contrived and amateur, it feels like something a high schooler wrote.

I don't really care about the morality or message it was trying to convey, the point is that it's contrived as fuck.

You could made the same point in a more nuanced way, which I'm pretty sure the game even does later on with that quest where you have to go invisible to rescue that dudes girlfriend and the consequences of that

she's right about the jedi though, at least in the context of 2 since it's set up to make her right. their short-sightedness and stubbornness makes them an easily exploitable net negative for the galaxy.

she outright says that she doesn't have a problem with the exile pursuing a morally just path so long as his actions are in line with that long-term goal. and in the light-side ending, that's exactly what you do -- you rebuild the jedi but built on new foundations and ideals, lessons learned from malachor.

The scenario plays out exactly how Kriea wants to make whatever point she wants to make, instead of feeling like a real life event. That beggar and what happens to him purely exist for your conversation with Kriea, instead of feeling like a real inhabitant of the setting

imagine if all the war and tragedy here on earth was caused by the force. For the purpose of making a bunch of shitty movies in a far away galaxy. So you decide to kill the force, shit you almost achieve it but then you realize you are in fact, part of a shitty videogame.

it felt to me like she was just making an example out of a situation. for all we know, the events shown afterward didn't even happen and she was just showing you a hypothetical outcome via force vision or something.

never give anything to beggars or the homeless. They have lots of charity available to get them off the street, but instead they panhandle and do drugs.

How would you have it play differently? Art is made with intention, and sometimes that intention is not necessarily to portray realism.

I mean, isn't that the point? I always took the visuals of that scene as just that, a visual to what Kreia was saying, not that such a thing actually happened to that guy.
