I only regret buying BDSP among the Switch Pokémon games, the best thing I can say about it is that it allowed me to unlock a couple extra Pokémon in PLA.

I don't buy slop these days since I'm not a child anymore and have transcended hype and FOMO. I was into pokemon when I played Yellow and Crystal. Skipped a bunch up until Diamond, which was rather downhill from the GBC era. Then got X to give the series another shot but it was the final nail in the coffin.
As an aging millennial I'm too old for pokemon anyway.

I don't enjoy Pokemon anymore beyond the coom content.

Still not linear given the extremely strict set level of each objective where if you're underleveled by more than 5~8 levels the fights are Dante Must Die-level purely because of stats without extremely optimised teams and become a cakewalk if you're at the same level.

You can very often get stuck in a loop of encounters because pokemons are waiting right in your 3D model during the fight so you end up unwillingly chaining fights you didn't want.

So, for none of my requests being fulfilled competently, I get absolutely horrendous game performance and an art style that looks worse than SwSh. No wonder they are suing Palworld given that now Pokemon is indistinguishable from a fucking UE asset swap art style-wise..

I have not bought a pokemon game ever, actually. It's always been a childhood gift, pirated, or gameshared on Switch. That said I haven't played them all, only Blue/Red, Crystal, Fire Red, Emerald, HG, I tried Sun but never finished it, and I played Sword and hated it, never finished it, played Scarlet, didn't hate it but thought it was a rather weak game in terms of structure and world design.

My sole major complaint with the game is that the game allows you to tackle whichever gym you want in any order, but there’s no level scaling. Every gym has fixed-level pokemon, which is very counterintuitive and forced players to go a specific route in the end.

Game Freak should’ve taken a page out of Bethesda’s book and used level-scaling.

Dunno, probably won't unless it's good. I tried my friends copy of Pearl and it was so bad I dropped the series for half a decade, then Gen 6 was decent, Gen 7 was bad, and Gen 8 got my hopes up. A bit but was pretty mid, so I skipped Gen 9 because it was more crappy sub-par open world shit.

It really bummed me out seeing pokemon get worse. I put thousands of hours across the games.

no wait I bought Y as well, but that was a pretty embarrassing game in terms of quality, although I did enjoy playing dress up with the cute player avatar. One thing gamefreak managed to do really well even as the quality of the games tanked was the character design of the humans, for a very long time they kept that up. They might have had consistently the best character designs in videogames for like 2 decades there, even if they couldn't get anything else right. Although even that seems to be gone now as of scarlet and violet.

Agreed. S/M was the only 3D mainline Pokemon games I found enjoyable. X/Y was only enjoyable because I went in 100% blind, Sw/Sh literally put me to sleep, and I put down S/V after 8-10 hours of waiting for the game to get good (it didn't).
I don't hate Pokemon. I want Pokemon games to be good. But I can't enjoy most of these newer entries, and I hate how complacent GameFreak and TPC has gotten with the franchise's video game division. I feel more resentment towards the people who mindlessly buy the slop and keep saying there's nothing wrong. Literal NPCs feeding the machine of mediocrity.

The overleveled monsters in early areas in Xenoblade are a party trick, you're not supposed to be able to fight them nor are you capable to unless it's X and you go really out of your way to do so. The gyms/bases/giant Pokémon in SV are your main objectives.
