I was playing Guardians of Azuma anyway, so I grabbed a Switch 2 and upgraded it to the S2 version. Performance, visuals, loading times, all far, far better. Great increase. I imagine it'll be the same or similar going through my old backlog and replaying any of the games I've been meaning to revisit.

As a side note 2 also carries the Original Sin of the franchise, where all the interest and depth from Olimar's character in Pikmin 1 was thrown out the fucking window and now he's just a soulless treasure hunter who happily endangers his previously beloved Pikmin for the noble cause of helping his boss pay off a debt that's got nothing to do with him. It's retarded. Olimar is putting Pikmin in danger and getting them killed to help a company that doesn't treat him well and of which he has no ownership in stay afloat. That single choice ruined his character and pivoted the tone of every Pikmin game that followed, since his character has now just been "Treasure Hunter" with zero nuance or depth.
