When it's good, it's really fucking good, but I get it. I don't envy the people designing Mario Kart, because they have to skirt the line of being so casual your grandma could win a couple races and being skill based enough that the better player usually wins. In the end World pushes both extremes a bit by giving you ridiculous shortcuts at certain segments but also increasing the chaos. They don't want to have a mechanic you're always doing at every opportunity, which is why charge jumping isn't something you spam on straightaways. The idea that everything has a purpose, even just driving straight has a purpose and you have to recognize when it's a good idea to go for the crazy shit and when to play normally. It doesn't always work out though especially in the tamer straighaways where there's no obstacles like traffic. This is the second time I've seen an anon post this trick but every single time I've tried to replicate it I either never get the tools to make the attempt or get struck by lightning and lost the tools I was holding to try it before I can take 1st place. At the end of the day people can post cool tricks like this all the time, while its cool to see other ways to avoid the blue shell other than just breaking or the horn, but all of these tricks are still beholden to specific item drops you need to be lucky to get, and need to be lucky enough to actually get the chance to use them against a blue shell before you either get a red shell tossed at you, or lightning struck randomly losing all of your items, or a random boo coming in to steal your held tools before you get the chance to use them.

These tricks are cool, I'd love to try them, but the fact remains there are so many random variables operating in the background outside of the player's control that these tricks don't absolve the issue when it's still RNG that you'll even get the chance to actually use them no matter how much you try to meta-game the process to better control your luck.
