PS5 is like five years in 7 years is like nintendo console length they should already be working on the new one already. Peoples perception of the console was warped because there were no real exclusive games for it but when you think about it making exclusives is kind of a waste of money when you're already the main third party console.

Last year it was reported that PlayStation Network had 97 million monthly active users, with 49 million still remaining on PS4.

This year there are 124 million users on PlayStation Network. Sony isn't reporting numbers on the PS5/PS4 userbase split. However, this graph shows that PS5 has a larger share than PS4.

Live service game lock in. People don't want to set up a new device just to play fortnite and just stay on the ps4, only slowly moving the ps5 when they see hype for a game not on the ps4.

Because the PS5 is trash? It has no games (1), and is literally just a PS4 pro. It's also recording gameplay ALL THE TIME WITH NO ABILITY TO TURN IT OFF so there's input lag, in games, but you can even feel it in menus or when using the on-screen keyboard. You can't turn off messages telling you gameplay recording has stopped or resumed during and after copyrighted scenes too. Only reason I bought one is because my PS4 overheated and stopped working and the PS5 was on sale.

It's always gradual, not like it all stops at once, but I've noticed more games skipping on a PS4 release recently.
PS6 doesn't make sense to me so soon, especially with PS5 having such a rough startup period and troubled first party support you'd think they can stretch that out more, but I guess sony will do whatever.

they were getting their shit pushed in by a cheaper xbox360 with games, they got too cocky and though the could ride the popularity built during the ps2 with the $600 ps3 and early into the generation their absolutely bombed so they had to get their shit together towards the end of the generation
this time is very different because xbox left the console war during 8th gen so there's no need to make games at all if you have the monopoly in the home console market

this is mostly done intentionally, especially when a game is NSW/PS5 release, it obviously can run on a ps4

There are still some reasons to get a PS4 to play a handful of exclusives not on PC.

There are zero reasons to get a PS5 if you already have a 1000+ $ gaming PC.
And id argue its better to get a gaming PC than a PS5 because it just has more games.
So yea only people still buying a PS5 are normies and fanboys.

I exclusively only play PS4 games on my PS5. It's simply because the performance is much better. I only own 3 native PS5 games: Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy XVI, and Stellar Blade. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the PS6 will maintain backwards compatibility with the PS4
