Hi, I recently released a demo of my new game Concrete Veil on Itch.io

It is a first-person shooter that combines Quake's pacing in gunfights and Half-Life's thoughtful atmosphere in the environments.
Set in a dystopian city, where towering concrete wall separate the city from the unknown. The world is now controlled by the Private Military Company, that was meant to protect humanity. But now that maintaining this goal no longer makes sense, they are forced to wander the world for eternity.

Satisfying Gunplay
2 weapon types + melee attack. All polished to perfection. Later there will be more weapon types. Physical prop interaction deepen gunfights even more (knock out enemies by throwing crates or bottles in them or just punch them with your leg ;). Get cover from bullets by picking up metal sheets or other scrap) Every enemy has weak points that are not protected with armor plates. You should find and use them to be more efficient. Highly detailed levels and environments (Not just an arcade-style square box with one repeated texture): Main inspiration for me was Half-Life 2's thoughtful level design and atmospheric environmental art.

Yes the textures are from source. If i had to make them myself it would take an eternity.
btw a lot of indie games are using sounds/textures from hl2. For example Voices of the void - there are just a little downscaled/pixelated.
Also as you can see the game is completely free and there is no commercial use of assets. All models, animations, code was done by myself. To use music I have permission from artist.

Reloading after death made my cursor stay on screen
Movement is slow(maybe because i can't bunnnyhop), enemies are too tanky and too accurate at long ranges
The screen effects upon being hit are annoying

Captures HL2 aesthetic and feel quite well, I'm impressed, just one suggestion, lower the fov on your trailers, most people can't take it and it makes them dizzy so they could dismiss it without ever trying it.

Beat the demo.
To be critical, jumping was inconsistent and sometimes just didn't happen. The boss was pretty neat but mostly a bit of a slugfest. It also needs a few basic options like aim sensitivity. Sometimes the enemies would just mad dash to random things. I think they were super-prioritizing taking cover even if it didn't make much sense.
A lot of moments made me wish I had a grenade. This game needs grenades like crazy. I really liked the look of the final area though and the enemy design is really cool. Basically if you gave me a shotgun and some grenades I would play through these nice environments for a while longer.

It's not half bad honestly but there are a ton of bugs. My resolution keeps getting reset to 3k something even after I tell it to be 1920x1080.
The game set a checkpoint at the start of the game where I was getting shot with 20 hp, so I revive, get shot and die in less than 1 second, repeat. Can't even duck into cover
The bots just run straight past me until they finally decide to stop and shoot.
Overall not that bad
