Kamya left Itsuno with the DMC legacy and it worked. Did he left anyone good to take the mantle? Kamya is working in a new Okami and i think the rest was moved to the monster hunter mines. That and that other dude who went to work in FFXVI. If they don't have people in touch with the franchise, then it's better to not get another one and risk a Donte scenario. DMCV was great and had a cool ending so i'm fine with that.

I think they have one big game left in them before ending things. There are lots of directions to take Vergil and Nero in terms of gameplay whereas I feel Dante has sort of peaked but I might just not be creative enough. Of course the worry is that without Itsuno we have no idea what the next DMC game/s will be. They might be nuGoW tier, they might surpass all of the previous ones, they might get someone who doesn't truly understand the design ethos of DMC.

The window for that $60 price tag is long gone. Why not do deep discounts over time to ramp up the lifetime sales numbers? Besides, investors like big numbers, and the 10 million copies line from "niche" games like DMC5 is good window dressing for investors' meetings.

DMC5 should be now in top 10 best selling Capcom games ever and they have been openly saying since like 2018, that discounts are driving game sales and the reason they say that RE7 is so successful, despite under performing on launch, is because it sells at least 1 million copies every single fiscal year since launch.

Nowadays large majority of game sales a year comes from games older than 1 year. Prior to 8th gen it was the opposite, that's why they had to constantly make re-releases, so that retailers buy their shipments.

NTA but I couldn't get into it personally, the gameplay loop felt a lot slower than other DMC games I played, I don't like Nero's new gameplay with the robot arms much, and the graphics and music weren't doing it for me. I wanted to like the game, but I just didn't, and ending up dropping it midway in - I never do that with a DMC game, even pieces of shit like 2.

Maybe I'm saying this cause I never played SE, maybe I'll luck out and they'll put it on Switch 2 or finally stick it on Steam, but beyond that, I don't really have an urge to play, other than trying to get back to it to watch the Netflix shit out of my eyes and ears.

Investors only care about current and future profits. sales is simply an indicator that a product might be driving profits, but alone it doesnt indicate much. DMCV is that kind of game that is really appealing to a niche audiece that isnt price sensitive, but its almost inversively unnapealing to audiences that arent already fans. Thats good because that means the game will simply fly off shelves, but getting a constant stream of revenue long term might prove challenging.

I've no doubt DMCV had healthy financial returns for Capcom, but there cant be much investor value about a game selling at a 10 dollar price. Its probably a way to inject cash into the company but why are they so strapped for cash?

I imagine this is why Nintendo doesnt do discounts really. Years old games are still firmly full price. Nintendo wants brand recognition above all else. They sell lots of merch and other shit, have lucrative movie deals and tie ins, and they keep it all on their obviously low cost ecosystem. Any one that doesnt acknowledge nintendo has the most culty, obsessed fanbase out there is delusional.
