They all are slop. It basically means a game made for no one or that is reiterating on past ideas concepts and themes without innovation. It can also mean a game that was just thrown together. These concepts describe most video games as video games development has become more accessible same thing with art. Basically there's too much shit to consume and none of it is quality hence forth it is slop. The hogs keep eating it though so more keep running up to slop them. The same people who bitch about American slop buy foreign chink waifu slop or Nintendo slop though. I am at the point of spring or consuming very little because none of it is worth the time anymore

Back in the day, we called those slop games shovelware and the gaming community at large rightfully mocked them. Nowadays, video games have much wider reach among the masses and gaming companies would rather cater to them than the gamer audience seen around 15 - 40 years ago since it makes their profit line go up higher and faster.

Personally, I look at mechanics first and foremost - and in a general sense. Does your game feature any new game mechanics that have never been in another game - or at the very least within its genre.

Slop is mostly a mixture of agricultural byproducts unfit for human consumption, but not wholly inedible or devoid of nutritional value. What we're receiving from entertainment companies are the leftovers of what competent artists are capable of producing. It's consumable enough for the average person to warrant committing to low-effort, high-volume manufacture. A big part of the problem is that there's so many low quality products that most people are choosing between ten pieces of garbage they can't see a meaningful difference in. Until the consumer market moves away from entertainment the market won't improve, but continue to lose quality as creators cut more corners. And people just aren't going to walk away from their screens.

At least to me, the difference between something being slop and something being bad is that slop is something that's not made with any care.
A game can be crafted by someone who is passionate, but it can still turn out to suck. And on the other hand, a game can be produced by completing checklists and simply copying tropes and things that work or are popular, and it can attain above average quality, at least on a surface level.
A game is slop when it lacks character or originality in any aspect.

Dogshit is just the new bullshit. No one owns a bull anymore but the meaning is the same since you have to corral them away from the herd so they don't fuck and kill everything on your range, same way regular people have to pen their dogs in their yards. I haven't played it.
I am interested to see a non-japanese take on JRPGs - which might be a selling point on its own.
Maybe a different culture will fix some of the inherent flaws of the genre. Though I haven't heard about it doing anything groundbreaking here.
Maybe there is some directorial vision behind why it had to be a turn-based JRPG, combined with the ambition of making one with AAA (ish) production values.
In any case, it didn't look like slop to me. But I'm also not rushing to play it.
Could change as I hear more about it.
