Complaints like this all but confirm the average gamer doesn't leave his house. The further away an environment is to you the more 'foggy' it appears. BotW is mimicing real life landscapes from a distance.

Where does this meme come from? Fog was used before directx 9 (that introduced some tricks that made distant lod practical) as a way to hide the small draw distance but this modern volumetric shit is anything but that and not only drops the performance it also sucks the contrast out.
