Can we talk about Mario Kart lore, canon and the implications of Mario Kart World?
As we know it's all one big land that you can travel through. But you have Peache's fucking castle there, and it's clearly not the mushroom kingdom there.
To further muddy the waters, the only time we ever saw a connected world in Mario Kart was on the Gamecube game Double Dash, so we know all those tracks are set in the same island. The problem that arises here that we have DD courses in MKW, so that would imply that all of DD courses should exist in the MKW map, but they aren't. But also DDs connected island felt much smaller AND felt like it was near Isle Delfino because of the tropical vibe and shared NPCs.
But that's not all, we also have tracks from pretty much every other Mario Kart, so that means at least those specific tracks would also be on this same island even back then when those games happened. And we know there is a passage of time, look at how courses evolved, Choco mountain goes from a very isolated place, to a small mining area, to a full on mining center.

Wasn't mario kart 8 a toy story type timeline it was meant to be one of the earliest ones in the timeline, but it was set in a giant land

Also I think there are ties to Gaeboy super mario games like Land, the easter island eggs and quite a few things have come only from that game which hasn't happened in any game for years

not sure where you got this info from but could be interesting idea. The DK space shuttle is great I wonder where it's going and why? Will it be attached to the new Mario Bros 2 movie?

I think ultimately they're going to have a huge tonne of content with the next movie and it's all going to make sense.

You're close to answering your own question. The Mario universe is populated by lunatics who rebuilt all the courses on some remote island with some of them being exact replicas for the sake of giving us a new adventure.
