Weird logic in this post. Bomberman has always been a mascot who has stuck around despite low sales due to a cult fanbase. R1's high sales had to do with it being a switch launch title when the switch only had like 6 games. People really don't get how game development works
Sakurai didn't add Pit in Brawl to bring back Kid Icarus, Uprising wasn't even originally conceived as a Kid Icarus game.
It wasn't until Iwata went to Sakurai and asked him if he could make his new idea for an air to ground combat game with a Nintendo IP that he then settled on Kid Icarus after some thinking.
If Iwata never approached and Sakurai never accepted, Kid Icarus would still have been nothing more but two games (one never even releasing in Japan).
As for Banjo-Kazooie, Rare's not interested in making a new game

Smash Bros also never "saved" Fire Emblem, even after Melee and Brawl the series was on a decline until Awakening was what saved the series.
