WoW is built almost entirely on retcons. I quit way before that expack, but from what I've read, it wasn't even particularly bad. Basically just made so all the previous events were part of his "plan". There's been worse case when retcons literally changed previously established events. Like the whole Sargeras/Nathrezim corruption and the inception of the Burning Legion. Or, hell, resurrecting Illidan as loot pinata in TBC, when Arthas killed him at the end of TFT.

I stopped playing wow when Burning Crusade came out and they made the Blood Elves a Horde faction for no reason and then also made it so they couldn't be warriors. A fucking GNOME can be a warrior, but a blood elf can't? Fuck that. I cancelled my subscription.

So I don't know what the jailer is really. I know of it, by name, and that it has something to do with the Lich King, but that's it.

Where you can have an entire chapter explaining how the events of the previous chapter were an elaborate trap laid out by one character that his opponent fell into. It doesn't change the previous events, but reveals new facts that were obscured from the reader/player until now.

Now the Naztherim are pawns of the Jailer who deliberately corrupted themselves with Fel so they could corrupt Sargeras so he would lead the eventual invasions of Azeroth and etc etc

Metzen simply forgot the Eredar were one of the two species who corrupted Sargeras when he wrote the Draenei. This is deliberately changing it.

Imagine having to be a writer for a project that:

This was actually cool as fuck in concept making them only be the mana using classes since Blood elves are addicted to magic, but...they then fuck this up allowing them to be rouges

Also awful example because Gnomes shouldn't be able to be warriors/rouges due to a 3ft midget being useless in melee (And thus a good contrast to the Blood elf) you faggot but should've always had hunter/priest instead

And dont get me started on female Nelf druids. WoW classes were mostly soulful but had some really gay shit decisions, much like the game as a whole.

There was no need to put a big bad "I was secretly planning all this" at the centre of it. Hell/Afterlife is a dangerous and scary enough setting as it is.

If the Undead had defeated Argus the Jailer could never have used Anduin as a pawn to attack the Kyrian
The First Ones explicitly knew one day mortals would get involved and built the Waystones to allow them to leave the Maw/go to Zereth Mortis to stop the Jailer

You know it's canon that the reason the Primus won every battle he ever fought is because he was in contact with some entity that showed him the infinite possibilites of every timeline of every battle, allowing him to choose the best outcome, right? And then the Primus went to the Maw and got all his memories stolen by the Jailer? The idea of him seeing the future isn't remotely far fetched. It's all set up that way.
