I agree, but at the same time, you seem to misunderstand something. Those bright, stark colors (of your picture) are related to hardware limitations, while the newer, more subtle colors are thanks to more memory, better textures, graphical filtering, etc...
Also, there's still colorful games, like Overwatch 2 and Splatoon, etc. It's not like everyone has abandoned colors.

I really liked 4's slow build up and overall small-scale plot. It only got fucking retarded at the very end when they had to make the plot go further than Adachi. In 3 and 5, just right from the fucking start it's >WOOAH WE'RE JUST INSTANT FUCKIN MAGICAL SUPER HEROES AND WE GOTTA SAVE THE WORLD!!
