The negative reception this game is getting feels like a psyop. It's obviously not a very good game, but people are being way harsher on it than necessary. No mention of the Everywhere creation kit, either.

I dunno, I was hyped for it since I've always liked "GTA clones" and didn't even mind Mafia 3, so seeing the same dude plus "some guy from Rockstar games" made it sound like it'd be good.
Then, gameplay came out. Gunplay looks like something out of an Xbox 360 game, there is no melee function in the game, animations are stiffly rigged and have the character clipping in and out of terrain even getting in and out of cars when other open world games solved that issue 20 years ago. None of it just looks particularly good, and I was considering actually paying money for it.
It's like they rushed it when they saw GTA VI ramping up marketing, when it should've come out "not yet".

If the game looked worse graphically and sold for $20, I honestly think it wouldn't have been dogpiled on as much. When the game looks graphically competent as a AAA game while having the gameplay of a Unity asset flip, it's very jarring to look at and play. Especially when they charged $60 for it.

Personally, I never gave a fuck about the gameplay of GTA games. The "run over pedestrians, beat up a whore and steal her money and escape from police" kind of gets stale pretty quickly. It was more about a very solid and compelling narrative that fits the sandbox gameplay.
This game looks like ass in all aspects. Saw some videos and the whole "multinational conglomerate conspiracy + technocratic dystopia" shit has been beaten to death.
It's like everything about this game is a decade too late.

It's very sus becuase nobody cared about it before it was released, it had basically zero marketing, it comes out and all prominent youtbuers, even the ones who don't really judge videogames like Penguinzo immediatly make videos just saying "Game... bad".

It has less bugs and less wonky shit than Cyberpunk but they weren't even this harsh on Cyberpunk on release.
