X3 is okay, although it was actually an outsourced title. Some of the tracks suck ass while others are fucking great, the boss theme really is the worst though.

Also despite its flaws I still like X5, although people bitching about Alia killing you in Mattrex/Dinorex's stage are bad at videogames. Instead people should bitch about Rangda Bangda, that fight is pure unfiltered asscancer without the Gaea armor.

Unironically my 3rd favorite X game to play with customized X6 tweaks + saber cancelling on X + continues restart whole level
When you get good at it the game becomes a grudge match between it's own bullshit vs. all the shit you can do like chip combos to speed through levels, screen nukes, yanmar option, etc. And that's not even bringing up Zero and his glitches that let you tear up the game. Genuinely the most fun of the PS1 titles.

I mean think about; this is literally more basic than some regular enemies. It moves back and forth, shooting projectiles. That's what it does. You can design the AI for this oversized cunt in 30 seconds. I could replicate the so-called design in the upcoming battles by taking this bastard, hastily drawing a bunch of rectangles in MS Paint with my eyes closed, cropping the fucker off in the middle of them without any consideration having to put whether or not the main character was equipped to handle some of the absolutely haphazard situations that crop up. And calling it a night by snorting my no-doubt satisfying mountain of coke.

Out of the first 6, 6 is definitely the worst most lazy one. I still have no idea how you're supposed to actually fight Rainy Turtloid. You just mash attack and he blocks some and gets hit some until he dies and you have no idea why. Some of the levels might have interesting design like Infinity Mijinion, but the level is super super short. Others are just so unbelievably boring and devoid of any interesting theme like Ground Scaravich. Literally like 80% of the assets in the game aren't even animated. They're just static JPGs floating around. The music like always is still great though.

Ok so what if we put in a slow vertical autoscroller where the player jumps downward onto rising platforms with minimal enemies and an instakill pit even though they're trying to descend.
Make it take maybe 2 or 3 minutes to complete, and then later in the level make the player do it again but with even more hazards. Maybe after the boss we could even have them do it in reverse. Possibly with some rising lava for spice.

2 is very good. 3 slightly less so, but still pretty good. I think the series really takes a nosedive from there. 4 is okay, 5 is worse and 6 is pretty terrible. Never played 7 or 8, but I don't think they're held in very high regard.
