It's a lot of fun but there's not much to do since it's so easy. You don't ever have to target specific gear for weaknesses/block ailments, parts are thrown out like candy, and there's not some super monster that you need to spec for. Wounds also turn it into easy mode by chaining pops. You just burn through everything really quickly so there's no reason to stay after finishing base content even with TUs.

The same thing with World's base game. People played the fuck out of it, got bored because content comes in at a snails pace, and moved on until actual content drops for it. TU2 being this far out was a mistake. The Akuma stuff is cool, but it doesn't make up for the huge gap between TU1 and TU2.

I wish someone would just make a classic monhun game. World onward is so shit having to be balanced around infinite resource restocking. Instead of attrition of your resources and backing you into a corner to get gud monsters now have to wombo combo you to death or themselves get oblitrated with no difficulty.

>Environments are boring to explore, with few interesting secrets or shortcuts to take, made even worse by the Seikrets just auto moving you
>No real sense of "hunting", monsters are on the map, Seikrets home in on them, tracks are pointless, and same goes for the paintball
>Inventory controls are even more convoluted somehow and annoying to set a loadout for
>Lower difficulty overall due to wound system and being able to go back to camp and completely refresh any time
>Environments are often shades of brown and grey, which is supposed to make the seasonal changes more impactful, but just means you spend a good 80% of the time in muddy, dull environments
>Environments are rocky mountains with snow, grey oil pits, a sand blasted desert, and a dreary jungle
>Lack of features like the hub alongside convoluted matchmaking directly with friends make it tedious for anything but randoms
>Materials are way easier to get, and you can literally go search for people online who have investigations with guaranteed gems/plates
>Much less environmental interactivity and purpose. Less reason to pick things up, less reason to utilize things other than the rare boulder, and less of note to watch out for.
>Performance is ass on PC for a lot of people, with performance being choppy on console alongside horrific resolution and textures
>Abysmal story overall that actively gets in the way of gameplay (see the constant walk-and-talk scenes that go on forever)

I enjoyed the core gameplay in spots, beat HR and the newest content, then just stopped playing. My friends completely fell off before even beating HR. Not like it's anything of note since the HR final boss is just a tougher flagship that you've already fought.

It's aggressively mediocre honestly, and sometimes outright bad in spots.

World was right on the cusp of being too neutered, sometimes going over that edge, but never enough that it was outright bad or boring.

Wilds just went right on over, cheering as it careened into mediocrity. Capcom does this all the time with sequels it feels like. They see something that worked (ignoring all of those who point out what went wrong) and completely double/triple down on it.

Then they add in shit performance to boot.

not exactly the same
Wilds is sitting at a ~20,000 player peak a mere 3 and a half months after launch
In the same span of time after PC release, World was sitting at ~35,000 average

to put this in perspective
World's 329,333 peak to 35,000 in 3.5 months is a 89% dropoff
Wilds 1,179,869 peak to 20,000 in 3.5 months is a 98% dropoff

World and Wilds both suck and are a blight on the MH series.

But the real blight is allowing Tokuda's retarded ass fantasies of creating some ecological world to actually start development despite the fact that it makes the rest of the game worse since it's just a bunch of half finished concepts (like alpha monsters, seasons, weather, and more) and no hardware on the planet can run it properly.

You are not understanding. The type of person who rebuys the game is going to be more hardcore and play for longer. That's why you can't really infer anything from these statistics, the audience for a simultaneous launch vs. delayed launch is different.

The insistence on analyzing it in this lens is someone who has a conclusion and is trying to force statistics to align with it.

>The type of person who rebuys the game is going to be more hardcore and play for longer.
I think you're the one not understanding
Your argument brings up hardcore fans that play longer, but if that's the focus point then how is the number of players sticking around in Wilds still markedly less than World?
World came out on PC half a year after console
Not every single console player made the switch to PC
MH as a franchise did not yet have even close to the same popularity as it did post-World, and virtually zero pre-existing PC base
World peaked at a mere THIRD of Wilds
and yet despite all these odds, World still maintained a healthier playerbase than Wilds did relatively

ergo, Wilds is an absolutely royal fuckup by all measures

People have given plenty of reasons but here are a few of mine.
>Lack of satisfying end game. Artian grind is boring.
>Lack of Elder Dragons and other teir 3 monsters for challenge/fun
>Seikret is too much of a "get out of jail free" card; the automation discourages people from learning/exploring the maps. Parts of the maps are also only accessible via the Seikret, preventing on foot exploration. They're also just worse Palamutes, as the Palamutes could actually fight in combat, had craftable weapons and armor, and didn't serve as merely a healing taxi. You also couldn't call for the Palamutes when you were knocked down, so no last second saves when you made a mistake.
>Maps are mostly uninteresting. Scarlet Forest is the only map that actually looks pleasant and plays "okay." The other maps aren't fun to fight on, especially The Iceshard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria. Scarlet Forest > Windward Plains > Oilwell Basin > Ruins of Wyveria > Iceshard Cliffs. To further add, the maps themselves are designed around the Seikret, so they take forever to explore on foot. They're a combination of being too linear and too large & empty. Massive open areas filled with nothing segemted by narrow corridors that allow no freedom of traversal like the maps from Monster Hunter Rise.
>Endimic Life serve 0 purpose. You can no longer display them as pets, nor have a player room in which you would display them in despite being able to capture them.
>Very few Arena quests available. 1 Chatacabra, 1 Rathian and 2 Tempered Ajarakan via Akuma Crossover.
>No 3+ monster hunts for Optionals/Investigations. The max is 2, with the sole expection being the triple Quemetrice event.

>Wilds had a simultaneous release, so there are more casual players on PC.
Yes that's exactly the point you fucking retard
All of those hardcore fans didn't have to buy it on console first, all of them could go straight for PC version
AND YET THERE ARE STILL LESS OF THEM STICKING TO WILDS THAN WHEN THEY WERE MORE SPLIT BETWEEN PLATFORMS IN WORLD

I like Wilds, but I have a couple issues;
>World
The world layout is good, but it looks like shit. Take Dragon's Dogma 2, it's on the same engine, it also has poor performance (actually largely fixed now), but it looks TEN THOUSAND TIMES BETTER. They're basically the same game. Open world big monster killing game. Yet Dragon's Dogma 2 looks fucking great while Monster Hunter Wilds looks terrible.
>Performance
I'm probably one of the few who can run this game above 60FPS on max settings, but I shouldn't need a computer as good as mine to do that. Like I said - the game looks awful.
>Online
The online is awful. Constant disconnections, constant connection errors. But my biggest issue is how Link Parties work. You cannot stay in a persons world forever. You can join an environment party, but you can't join missions from there and you don't stay together after this. It fucking sucks trying to play with someone. Constantly connecting and disconnecting. It's fucking annoying.

The game itself is fun. It's still Monster Hunter and some of the new combos are really fucking cool. But these three issues are so fucking annoying, I just don't want to play it long term anymore...

Also - I know people have said, "Oh it's only the desert area that looks bad" and while I disagree. Even the Desert Area in DD2 looked so much better than Wilds.

I seriously don't understand how two similar games with similar concepts, both open world, both using the same fucking engine, BOTH FROM THE SAME FUCKING COMPANY can fuck up so fucking bad.
They literally solved most of the issues with open world and performance in DD2. Why is Wilds having all the same problems years later, BUT EVEN FUCKING WORSE. At least DD2 looks good enough to warrant it's bad performance...
Anonymous No.712607381 [Report] >>712613387

They're a bit "different" but going back is just impossible unless you already played these games in the past and have your nostalgia goggles on, or you're trying to fit with the veteran crowd like a poser.
The gameplay in previous titles pre-World were less dynamic, with fewer move set. You could say it was more about positioning and committing to the animations but that type of gameplay is slow and clunky now. It's also not true to say that that aspect is completely gone in Wilds. It's that Focus mode is a crutch easy mode, way too OP.
You also feel very lonely and isolated in the past games without MP.
And the amount of stupid farm you need to do, the absence of QoL features, the drops for mats that is insane etc. Unless you hate your life, it's not worth it.

If you play ONE MH game, you've pretty much played all of them. Because the experience is always more or less the same. Wilds might get a lot of hate right now, warranted too, but it'll become better in the long run.

I enjoy the Risen versions of all the monsters more than the normal forms honestly

I really hope they just abandon this peice of shit. Even g rank won't save it. Also I'm sick of grank concept and drip fed content to keep the game running for 3 years.

Ohhhhh that makes sense, I skipped anomaly and went right for them. No fucking wonder, right now I’m getting one shotted by primordial

I was actually wondering what the recommended route was supposed to be. Anomaly grind seems like a waste? Like do monsters get new move sets?

I can’t remember GQ hunts in 4 but I think at level 140 they got new things

oh yeah just work through the anomaly quests for now, you need the materials to fully upgrade your weapons and improve armor, and you need to grind MR for a bit to unlock more dragons and stuff
primordial malzeno is basically the final boss, you're way undergeared

it's worth grinding anomaly just to upgrade your armor and weapons further, even just unlocking anomaly slots on your weapons gives free bonuses. Most monsters don't get new moves, I think there's only a few that get like one move

normalfaggots like the gameplay, what they hate is how shit it looks, how shit it runs, and how annoying it is to set up a party with your bros

An immersive hunting simulator with complex ecosystem calculations would be a good way for the franchise to evolve. Issue is, Tokuda doesn't want that. He wants to make moviegames with braindead gameplay that appeals to casuals and normies

Oh yeah? What's that? Are you gonna tell me with a straight face that you expect most people to go *back* to play the older games? lmao.
These games don't respect your time anymore. It's over, gramps. There is no going back pre-World. Games are old, clunky, look like pixel vomit and are slow and nobody plays them anymore except a few nostalgia faggots.

And the producer said the game was a massive success because of their story!
I made sure to tell them how much I hated that fucking brown kid Nata in the survey, and everybody that played the game loathed these miserable backward faggot NPCs.
I know Capcom is bad at video game writing, but with Wilds, they surpassed themselves. Story, dialogue, characters, everything was a disaster.
And the kid is still there, with his own coming-up-the-ass-of-age story for the G Rank...
I just can't believe they thought this was a good idea to begin with.

Also most dedicated players dropped the game, as soon as they saw what the end game really is about. It's fucking ass.

GU has deviants which constantly level up from beating them. They have their own armor sets that look cool as fuck. Once you get a deviant to level 100 you unlock EX Deviants and beating them let you use deviant armor as layered gear.
