Parries are no different then QTE's, just another way to make combat a lazy and brain dead affair. You can color-code them, you can give them different buttons for different attacks, you can even time them, but at the end of the day they're Simon Says just like QTE's.

I played the whole series on PS2 back in the day and I played the Oni 1 remaster recently and I'm hyped.

We haven't seen too much of the gameplay yet but every change they've made seems to be reasonable. Using Mifune's likeness for Musashi is great and they seem to be focusing on making him extremely expressive. I'm interested in what they're going to do with the setting since it doesn't seem to take place in the human world like the other games did, which is good because the weird oni/genma places were always the most memorable to me.

My only concern is how replayable this game is going to be. I'm hoping for things like a hard mode or NG+ and the like. I really hope they also make Sasaki playable as well, even if it's in a side-story mode.

I'm praying this game does well financially so Capcom starts paying attention to their old IPs more.
