I figured out how to use Carty. Basically you need to build up her unique forte gauge by placing 3 swords on the field.

>hold attack for one sword
>full combo for one sword
>use E for one one sword
>do a plunge attack to absorb 3 swords
>the forte gauge will have swirling animations meaning you've absorbed the swords
>transform into Fleur
>build up a normal forte gauge
>use burst
>repeat

I think it's pretty good set up. It's leaning in the flaws of characters a lot more than previous patches and also highlighting the flaws and murk of septimont as a society through them. I think septimont is pretty well fleshed out and delivered in main story content and sovlful details all around the city. There's a surprising amount of npc interactions that cut to a change with what the NPCs are doing

i got cartethyia and weapon, and sequence 1 with corals.. i regret getting sequence 1, so far carte and her team just dies all the time. I don't know why the team just doesnt feel good to play. The team i have most time with is carlotta, cantarella, shorekeeper.
I would have rather saved it for lupa and augusta. Ima have to buy the monthly and pass to hopefully get enough for them.. ima keep pulling on carte for s2 since it's a bigger boost.. but if i miss the 50/50 i'll just save it for lupa.

Besides a couple honorable exceptions, story/lore/characters aren't just shit, they are radioactive waste (Rinascita included up to the current patch too). Even the world design and art direction lack cohesiveness. I thought things like Averardo Vault or Avinoleum were a big step up over the Huanglong garbage but Septimont is another clusterfuck of random shit thrown around. Their problem is that instead of a tech/post-apocalyptic version of past cultures, they look like a cheap theme park doing a Roman weekend event.
The high production values only hide the bankruptcy inside. A souless husk of a game.

It is very inferior in those areas (especially before you get to Rinacita where the game just looks like high resolution and high poly crap where the devs tried their best to put as much technical skill as possible into a complete void of artistic direction creating an extremely polished turd).
It's good at messing around with its core gameplay loop with stuff like the Sominoire and related events and tries to play like more of a Soulslike game if that's your thing so it's still worth trying.

i've played this game for around 30 hours and i'm so utterly confused on what i'm supposed to be doing. there's eighteen different temporary events going on at any given time. there are three different "main story" quest branches in my journal that i'm not strong enough to beat. there's a hundred different materials that i need to farm to upgrade my girls. the "echoes" system makes zero sense, everyone tells me to "upgrade my data bank level" but i have no clue how i am supposed to do that effectively beyond just wandering around in the THREE DIFFERENT MAPS that i've dipped into. sometimes the game forces me into co-op mode randomly which disables the progression of quests so whats the point. levelling up my girls feels useless because for some reason the enemies are always a higher level than me. i have no idea if i'm spending my resources effectively. i was told that this was a "f2p friendly" gacha but it seems like some upgrade materials i can only get from the shop? (specifically the polygon cores)
whenever i ask for help on these threads or on /vg/ i get ignored or called a retard. apparently all these systems are just supposed to be intuitive and easy to understand, but i've never seen a game with so much confusing bullshit. at least zani and carlotta are hot and fun to play.

To increase your data bank level, just absorb echoes when you're around running about. If you're in a rush, just do a random exploration quest, or stick to the main quests. Once you've get the hang of the game's systems through repetition, it'll be muscle memory--upgrade mats are easy to identify, item does this or does that, etc.
