I personally always liked KOF designs more (on average). SF has cooler big-body characters though.
Point is that KOF has almost always been easier to pick up. It has easier links, easier inputs, easier combos yet somehow SF became the more dominant game

KOF has links, they're just easier to do for newbs thanks to the input buffer and holds. idl gatling.
Also KOF has better charge inputs. God I hate charge in SF. It takes like a full two seconds and you have to design the whole character around it.
In KOF it just another input and takes as long as a DP, so motion characters can have charge inputs too.
