This is just gonna be 90% of gaming from now on, isn't it? Everyone's scared to make new games because they're so expensive to make and most of them bomb anyway, so what do you do that's cheaper? Remaster old games that already sold well before. And now with this they're showing they're not scared to remaster games that have already been remastered, so it won't end just because there's already a remaster. Buy a game that's called the "ultimate edition"? And it gets remastered anyway.

yes there's no finality to anything. That's how you can tell videogames aren't art and all these artistic activist retards should leave

Gameplay>Graphics. 10 years to shit out a game with 8k rendered toenails, or a year, maybe less for one that matches the PS2 in looks. We got the Sly trilogy, Jak trilogy, AND the Ratchet and Clank trilogy all in the span of 4 years. 9 games! Now we're lucky to get one a decade. You very well might die only seeing 6 more games from your most beloved franchise at the pace they make them now, maybe even less if they double down even harder on graphics.

All the AAA stuff is too expensive to take risks, but indies are usually not resourceful enough to make anything good.
I think a way forward is for a publisher to scoop up indies and fund projects that have potential, accepting that a bunch will turn out to be trash.

To avoid that they called the second remaster a remake even though the only thing that really changed were the graphics

I recall reading the Oblivion remaster took 4 years to make so it's not like even the remasters are short in development time, that's just what short looks like compared to making a whole new game.
