I haven't played 3 but I genuinely think Bayonetta 1 and 2s story is cool when put together. 1 on its own is just kind of a spectacle, but 1 and 2 together fit together really well and is an exciting spectacle while also clearly being thought out in how they connect.

It's not the deepest shit ever but that's not a metric it should be measured on if it's not going for that.
