i barely remember the game. but I do agree immensely with Dimitrescu being too short. It was the same thing in 7 with the Baker's man (Jack?). He was so good, loved that part. everything else was kinda boring. I didn't care for the coomer shit, I was only interested in playing as Ethan FUCKING Winters again. Honestly I liked it, but not as much as RE7. There are things they did better but RE7 was a way better horror game. I didn't like how hard they were leaning into RE4 and RE6, but I guess it was inevitable considering the shit Ethan went through before.

I don't think I will ever play this. 7 was dog shit. It wasnt a return to classic RE. It wasn't a return to NuRE. It was just a paid prototype that Sony commissioned for PSVR on PS4 after people got excited for that hack Jokima's Silent Hills demo. It was basically a rip off of Condemned but worse. So 8 looks like more of the same. It seems like anything worth seeing was already posted in a webm.

Dogshit. It's extremely linear until the factory level, things like treasures are just padding because the game is so overwhelmingly easy. There's so much that is just a callback to RE4 without serving any purpose, like having a big case for all your items. Once I got a new gun and assigned a hotkey, I never had to look at my inventory because you have so much room. There's even an auto sort button, and 4 remake did the exact same things.
And even though RE4 had small sections where you played as Ashley, or fought a boss on a lake, 8 devotes entire chapters to it. In the dollhouse, you're just running through linear hallways opening doors. In the lake, you're just activating bridges. It's so boring.

I played half of this game with hard-on in vr

I just got this game anons. Started playing it last night. I picked the hardcore difficulty and I got to the save room in Castle Dimitrescu.
So far, it looks amazing and the atmosphere is top notch.
I am not digging the gunplay though. Enemies all feel like huge bullet sponges so far, I hope this changes as I get further along.
So far I think 7 is stronger.

It was incredibly fun, I immediately started on the highest difficulty and suffered a lot though, apparently you weren't supposed to do that and it was added to the game later or something but it was fun.

Overall this. RE7 had a much shittier bestiary but did everything else better if you don't absolutely loathe the Bayoux/Slasher thing they were going for. The DLCs are also both vastly superior. Overall it's definitely worth it for the 15 bucks it was going for recently but in the overall mainline entries it's probably one I'd put near the bottom.
