Kept waiting for the game to start. 1st game was way better and a more complete experience. 2nd one had some interesting set pieces but felt meandering.
The DLC with the detective though was incredibly good. Really enjoyed it. The ending especially was a great payoff and a fun puzzle.
non linear storytelling was a mistake for this game, I already dont know what's going, no need to complicate it even further, puzzles just dont feel like part of the story because I dont know what's going on

The payoff to his story was so good. Wish he was more clearly established as more than a reoccurring figure.
Now that I think about it he's yet to return in a DLC case. He's definitely showing up sooner rather than later.

yeah I agree, this constant back and forth for no real reason but to make the game ''more difficult'' is not fun and adds nothing but also makes the experience worse
they could just do a 'time 1 -fast forward- time 2 -fast forward- time 3' kind of setup but they just don't want it for some reason

It just needed a harder character presence. Second DLC felt like the first game's approach, massive timeskips where the entire cast gets cycled out from case to case, but without the latter part of the first game where time coalesces and it all comes together. But you can't do that in like 4.5 chapters.

what I'll say is that it had a very good OST. i didn't really get the complaints about Rise's OST when it first launched, but the first game's composer returning for the DLC reminded me what I was missing

Exactly. It’s like they thought messing with the timeline structure would automatically make it “deep” when really it just undercuts the actual emotional beats. You’re supposed to care about the consequences of events but good luck piecing together what leads to what until the post-mission recap. There’s zero pacing because you’re just constantly jerked back and forth. Just let the timeline breathe for once.

Game just ends with Jack becoming his uncle permanently.
Literal hard-stop, "Yep it's fucking over."
What the fuck even. Did the DLC come out yet?

I was such a fucking retard in the first game. I couldn't figure out who this Lazarus Herst was who randomly popped up until the part where you literally see him transform
