Shield Maze is the only time Lann is a genuinely powerful companion and after act 1 every other martial beats him cause his base class sucks ass. Couple with archers generally being weaker than melees in terms of DPR, and he's either a full pivot into a wisdom full caster to make him useful, or a bench warmer.
As much shit as Wendog rightly gets, at least she can get turned into a rapemachine with throwing axes.

You go throwing axes because there are two excellent ones available very early in the game, and because attack stacking with damage rider effects is basically the go to when it comes to maximizing damage outside of vital strike shenanigans.

both regill and gaybor get melted because they're melee and don't have enough armor to survive, dead characters do no damage per round. Seelah has neither damage nor tanking ability, although at least she can smite. Woljif can be OK, though you really have to get all the right spells and keep the buffs up which is still less safe than having a dedicated tank and 1-2 ranged chars pew pewing away.

the one thing that's true is lann mostly gets outclassed by arue, though desu you can probably just bring both of them

There are builds for all melees that work for Core just fine, and they all outperform Lann in terms of DPR. Also Arue is about the only character that deals even less DPR than Lann on account of her absolutely horrendous 11 base STR.

i have a lot of trouble getting both regill and ember to not suck on hard (let alone unfair which is too masochistic for me). Ember starts being good in act 5+ only when she actually has enough ray spells to contribute. Regill does good damage, but really struggles with not dying in the hard fights. Maybe with last stand i guess.

It's less about that and more that some mythics are just stronger than others to a retarded degree. Like Azata having both spell bounce and roll with disadvantage so even if you don't play a full caster you can nuke a room if you felt like it. Gets a lot of good permanent buffs if you go full martial. Some classes really got the short end of the stick.

Deiran can heal, buff, and use weapon demonstration.

Seelah's paladin are kinda okay, i mean she has some armor, and smite, and some buffs

Once you got Favourable Magic, it doesn't exactly matter what path you take as MD. The game is over by that point. Zippy Magic just gives an extra flavor of stupid to the side. Discount Weird clears everything, even shit that is meant to be immune to Mind Affecting and Fear. Rune+Phantasmal Killer even allows it to work against magic immunes.
I just finished such a run a week ago and I can count on one hand the number of enemies that managed to resist any of my selfs from Act 3 onwards. In fact, IIRC, it was literally only Nahyndri at the end of Midnight Isles, and then only because I did that before the Festival DLC where you get another batch of items to boost your save DCs by another 10 or so points.
Azata MD is genuinely so strong it gets downright boring.

Yes, but it only takes you so far, the rest of the bonuses come from stacking items, buffs, having a Court Poet mercenary, etc. A neat little tricks Magic Deceivers have is they get a +3 DC bonus to spells with the Sleep descriptor from the Tender Night buff you get in the Ten Thousand Delights if you fuck the prostitutes enough times. Deceivers can combine the Sleep spell with another CC spell to get even more DC, and they can even make it an Enchantment spell, so it gets the bonuses from items.

Not true, although the first couple you meet in the game is a pair of lesbians, with one of them being a Paladin Half-Orc. Since this is pretty early in the game it might give you the impression it'll be a common occurrence, but far from it.

Not really, she's a Paladin but more on the side of Neutral Good or even Chaotic Good at times, than Lawful Good. She doesn't boss you around and you actually have to babysit her a bit. She's a bit annoying, but the best damage dealer in the early game. Also she's the first companion you get, so you'll be stuck with her for a while.
