I was just browsing for a good curator group on Steam after considering making one on my own because I unironically think that I have god tier critique intuition and can articulate what makes the game fun or not for other people.
I noticed that there is a series of steam curator groups that follow an identical formulaic naming and review process. They are called like [name] reviews
I am 100% made sure that they are AI bot groups because they are all owned by the same person. What is weird about it is that all these groups have 20k-40k followers, even though they offer nothing of value in terms of meaningful review (it is all generic AI generated slop that clearly isn't written by someone that played the game). And also most of the games are rated positively.
What could the reason be for someone to do something like this? I don't think there is any money involved in this. The best reason I can think of is to get curator keys from devs and play games for free, but there is no way they are getting keys for good games, probably just some shitty unfinished indie games.
Also curator thread I guess. Is it a good idea to follow curators or websites to get video game recommendation? I think it's pretty subjective and hard to find someone that agrees well with the kind of vidya you like.
