You think YoshiP cares about FFXIV anymore? For the last 3 years he's done everything he can to show he wants to move on from FF14 and do something else.
He thought FF16 was going to be his break away chance but that 'failed to meet expectation'.
Then he had his team work on the PC port of Neo Fantasian which was Sakaguchis game, and that completely flopped. He had his team once again work on Eternal Strands and if you haven't heard of it? Don't worry no one else has either.
Now he's transplanted his name onto Final Fantasy Tactics, he's trying to reorient his studio from working on FF14 to being a broad shouldered studio that can do multiple games at once but it's completely failed.
I would say the people seething from seeing ffxiv pissed away is not YoshiP but the regular devs still working on FF14 and lastly the players themselves as for their sub money they get shit in return.

Every single big expected super high budget release (especially open word) since RDR2, has been a failure critically and at launch. The normies are not obsessed with those kind of games anymore, let alone the actual gamers. He took credit for the revival of FF14 after 1.0 failed but that was on the back of hard work from a lot of devs being overworked to remake an mmo in 18 months. He is the one who took credit when praise was heaped on the studio.
So when times are bad he can't then pass blame onto some other dev lower down on the ladder, it's still his name at the top.
He is to credit for the success which also means he has to take the blame for the failures, that's the responsibility of the job position.
