My i7 7700k + 1080ti build is still going hard.
My girlfriend is watching me play re4 remake now, running it on my lg oled at mid to high settings 4k native resolution. Could lower it to 1440p for 60 - 70 fps but the lg oled does a good job improving the response time of 30 - 40 fps

Like I can definitely go down to 60fps just fine and it won't feel like I'm missing much but I can't imagine going back down to blurry ass 1080p, so I imagine it'd be the same going from 4k to 1440p

Similar i built my i5 7600k + 1070 in like 2017. Had to replace the cpu and ram eventually but the 1070 is still running strong. Can still run most games (that are worth running anyway) at 1440.

I built my 5900X/3090 desktop in 2020, both at MSRP direct from AMD and EVGA respectively and have been able to play everything since save a few slop games that were refunded like Jedi Survivor at max settings 4K or DLSS up to 4K. All in HDR at 138FPS. Its been great. I was going to upgrade to a 5090 but seeing as how pajeets are scalping the market for AI slop I'll probably just wait. Got a Switch 2 while I wait. Nothing so far has required a new card, I just kinda wanted one to stay current.

As long it's a PC, it's great.
$200 you buy you a PC that can run 100 times more games than a console.
$1000 buy you one that can do that at 4k/120 if you don't mind fucking around with the settings.

However i would advise you to prioritize a really good screen over a really good videocard.
A geforce 5090 let you play AAA slop better, a good screen allow you to play ALL GAMES from 1960 to 2025 better.
DLSS can't make yars revenge better, but a good oled panel, or high end LCD screen with accurate colors can.

Emulated games you can solve with screen filters, from weird CRT trashery to suble stuff like sharp bilinear.
Newer games you do have to use shit like integer scaling, but in any case, you will get more improvement from having a screen with actual blacks, good pixel response and colors than tossing in a expensive 300 watts videocard that will do nothing.
