When you kill the setting, people will stop caring about it. It's pretty simple. Given how they handled Arcane and destroyed Victor, I have lost any hope that the MMO that's never coming will be good. It was going to be carried by the setting, and they've shown that they want to make the setting boring and lame.

In chasing higher player numbers, riot has constantly redesigned the game to appeal to the lowest common denominator among their playerbase. Roaming and laneswaps were killed because half the playerbase couldnt comprehend them and got angry at new stimulus. Rolequeue was explicitly made to appease the kind of people who instalock yasuo and spam 'mid or feed', at the small cost of making flex picks a reportable offense. Alternate builds are killed because retards see a tristana with 3 AP items kill them with entirely magic damage and then they build armor to counter tristana and get upset when it doesnt work. Lane changes and map redesigns are constantly made to support people picking a lane and then running down that lane every time they spawn like a glorified minion for 20 minutes, never rotating into objective play and ignoring the rest of the map, to the point the average player who still plays this game sees an enemy go 5/0 in a different lane and thinks 'this is an individual teammates fault'. All of these efforts and more have slowly chipped away at the confidence of the portion of the playerbase that have higher than 70IQ and respond rationally to new stimuli.

This. League is literally everything /v/ stands against. Or at least stood. The culture's changed quite a lot over the past decade and a half.

Riots balancing is just giga shit. They remove fun options from the game and replace it with nothing. So the game just became this really boring skillshot simulator where whoever lands the most wins. Basically everything that made DOTA fun and interesting is gone.
