I ask this genuinely
Are there any games that can replicate this feeling of claustrophobia and a complete loss of control?
Is this even possible in a video game?
Like being stuck in a cave or stuck on a plane with failed engines

>can you emulate the real feeling of death and despair while you are playing videogames on a comfy couch eating chips?
No, it's no possible.

the closest I've genuinely felt to something like this in a game is playing the forest and swimming in a cave which was pitch black and my character started drowning.
trying to reorient myself so I wouldn't lose all my stuff in the depths of some cave was stressful.

It's nowhere near as intense as your picrel, but the original Metroid 1 and 2 feel very claustrophobic.
It's kinda the whole appeal of the Metroid series to me, the kind of suffocating loneliness, and later games in the series capture the feelings evoked by the original games with only varying degrees of success.

In fact it's like the official remakes of Metroid 1 and 2 were designed to sanitize them of any scary feelings you might get while playing and make it friendly and soft for zoomers.

Northern Journey has a "nutty putty underwater cave diving" section but it is near the end of the game.

Why, do you think that would make for a fun game?
