No that's Darkwood. Signalis is very visually interesting but it's not really trying that hard to be scary or unsettling with it's gameplay. It's pretty much just an action game with some body horror. Dark wood does a much better job of using a style of gameplay that contributes to a sense of fear for the unknown, coupled with a need to explore it for the sake of survival.

Sadly the majority of horror fans discount silent hill 1 from discussion for best horror game simply because the controllable character is a man.

The gameplay and keyhunting is like pulling teeth and I never completed it despite the aesthetics and story being very alluring. Anyways have a scary skeleton.

I’m a huge fan of horror games and this one was… okay. It’s not terrible necessarily but definitely overhyped endlessly, by those I presume are the lgbt discord types becsuse it’s the exact sort of thing they would love

RE + SH + MGS1 + Ghost in the Shell coming together in theory should be really great but the truth is it plays like it was made by a really small team. I believe it gets praised by the fact it was made by 2 people. To me that is immaterial and what’s more important is the end result seen in the game, regardless of how big the team is. The combat is really bad. Someone might argue combat is not the point of this game but why even put it in here then? They nailed the cyberpunk dystopian sci-fi horror atmosphere. But it wears thing quickly by the mediocre gameplay. The puzzles are more interesting and thats the only redeeming factor here.

6/10 a rather bland 2.5D experience

Silent Hills 1, 2 and 4, BLAME, Ghost in the Shell, the likes. Being inspired by works you previously loved is fine and expected, but I cannot help but find it funny when Signalis has a central premise centered around the promise between two main characters, the corssing of realities via a tunnel in first person, a focus on the MC longingly looking in the mirror, an absent minded girl with a knife that's also looking for someone then later on accepts death in front of you, the entirety of the soundtrack really and its metal creaking sounds galore, a 'secret' NG+ ending where you desperately want to stay with your previously deceased lover, and more. By the time I reached the end and got to an area called Nowhere which lacks a map and is made out of previous rooms in the game taken 1:1 from Silent Hill 1's endgame I couldn't help but stare in disbelief. There's inspiration to create something that feels fresh and new then there's fanfic with a coat of paint, and to me Signalis never stopped feeling like the latter.

Its really good, I can't quite explain it since its a unique game, its price is really cheap so I recommend you to just grab it and try it out for 2 hours to see if you like it. There's so many unique little experiences you get while playing it that asking someone else to explain what the game is like might make it sound like shit. For example, the start of the game throws you into a dark forest and you have to get wood and nails to survive the night, it makes the game sound like a fucking minecraft clone but its the furthest thing from it

It's pretty good if you tolerate walking sims. People compare it to EYE a lot, which it has some similarities to, but it's much closer to Deus Ex. There are lots of routes to solving your problems--you can just kill everything if you want, but you're not getting xp or brouzoufs for doing so.
