I think the Ally X has better battery life and more powerful hardware? I like the Steam Deck more, personally, but I think most people just want a handheld that has those two things.

Where I live, the ROG Ally X costs twice as much as the Steam Deck OLED, so it wasn’t really an option for me—especially since I mainly use it to play older games anyway.

That said, the ROG Ally X is generally better for AAA gaming and offers longer battery life. However, it doesn't have an OLED screen and the display is smaller. On the plus side, it runs Windows, which makes it easier to use in some ways and ensures better compatibility overall.
