Changing the subject a little, does anyone else enjoys more the idea of being a Nintendo fag rather than playing the actual games? I just can't get motivated to play anything for months now, but I still regularly consume videos and news about them, I bought the Switch 2 and have barely touched it.
I'm not depressed if that's your default answer, could it be that since video games are not doing anything new for the past 10 years, I'm just fed up? You can only do the same shit over and over before it turns into a chore, but I don't know.

Some the upgrades are amazing. Link's Awakening now runs flawlessly at 4K / 60fps and they even toned that ugly blur around the border.

10/10 game is now an 11/10 on Switch 2.

Switch 2 is no PS2, PS2 was a revolutionary console, we're over two decades past that and any technological advancements with hardware is microscopic, and they're still selling underpowered outdated tech. At this point, the only thing selling consoles are the games, Sony is losing its exclusivity war, Xbox is dead in the water and Nintendo will eventually follow suit, there's only so much "innovation" left in the world, Switch 2 is a sign that they're running out of creative juices, they merely rehashed their previous console with better specs and slapped a 2 after it. That's something they've never done before, every console/handheld release they've done in the past was better than the last and the names reflected that, NES, Super NES, N64, Color, Advanced, DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii-U, Switch, and now, Switch... 2? No king reigns forever.

GPU power is important, Switch 2's tensor cores are important for DLSS of which it has a fuck ton. Switch 2 has a much faster memory speeds than X series S and much faster storage speeds as well. Add all that together and you have a system that's going to have better performance across the board even if the CPU is slightly more limited than what's in the Series S. Series X has the same CPU as well but that doesnt mean Series S can keep up with it. CPU has never been the end all be all

The library isn't really appealing either, but the console itself has a ton of problems. For one, it sucks paying 80 bucks for joycons, only for them to drift after a few months. I'm so damn nervous about that to the point where my Switch pro controller is always kept in an airtight container when not in use. Otherwise dust buildup will destroy it (did the same with my DS4). The worse battery life definitely doesn't help.

It came at a time when open world exploration was more limited. BotW actually gave you the ability to scale any ledge or mountain in the game. Most open world games still don't allow you to do that. As well as the ability to glide anywhere was a big deal, and you immediately saw all sorts of games copying both the gliding and the climbing mechanics, not to mention the overall aesthetic of BotW which was immediately aped by Genshin Impact and many other games. A monetary investment, spending items, building something so you have something to show. At the least cut down on how many of the FT points you get. some vids say you should do complete system transfer, but because my old switch didn't have that much save data, I didn't bother with it (because I think it removes the data from og switch if you do "system transfer")

Basically, some games support cloud saving/backups (might require NSO subscription if I remember correctly). So those titles will automatically more or less transfer automatically. Those that don't support it (I have odyssey might've been one, but I know pokemon and zelda were ones that don't have backuping), you have to go "data management -> transfer save data to nearby system" and you select the title that doesn't have backup option (so e.g. you transfer pokemon save data from switch 1 console to a nearby switch 2 console). Screenshots you have to transfer manually also (no cloud backup), I think that while Switch 2 doesn't let you install games or use regular SD for gaming, it lets you access to those screenshots stuff, so you can either directly copy them from regular SD to switch 2 internal, or if you have SD express, you first copy the regular SD screenshots/vids to PC, and then from PC you transfer them to a SD express card that you have formatted with your Switch 2 (so it has the right folder layout) and move the pictures and vids from PC to SD Express, I think.

even with emulators, there is no point to buying a ps5/xbone if you have a PC. Which makes PC + switch the best option, and switch is also a portable unit. So it's the best setup, imo.

i've played this more than my ps5 this year, which is collecting dust till GTA6.

How? Both sony and microsoft are looking to diversify their "gaming experience" to a hybrid format, since both sony and microsoft are going to make their own handhelds. This means there will be ton of developers that will be working with those "power targets" in mind as well, it means more games will be targeted at wide variety of "power levels"/targets, because they want a game to run on both Xbox Series X and their handheld, and also on PS5 PRo and the sony handheld. What this means is Nintendo will reap all the rewards from this because it means all the benefits from this "diversification" will directly transfer to more devs also being able to more easily just port a game on Switch 2, since like Cyberpunk devs they will know how to do it now (they must if they want to port games for xbox and sony handhelds) but they will also be able to reap the rewards from the install base of switch 1/2 users (remains to be seen how long switch 1 remains relevant). Basically everyone: Sony, Xbox and valve steam decks are all making it easier for developers to port games to Switch systems. Nintendo wins because nintendo will get all of the 3rd party ports it deserves, while also retaining its exclusive IP/games (Splatoon, metroid prime, mario)
