There is literally nothing wrong with remasters, remakes and reboots. There are about a dozen different version of MK2 on different systems because it was understood that different hardware makes software look and behave differently. Only underage and B& get pissed about remasters because they think it is a new phenomenon.

Most games are derivative. Half-Life is derived from Quake, which is slightly inspired by Lovecraft. Half-Life 2 is an inverted Quake 2 (Borg-like enemies occupy Earth rather than Earth attacking). GTA IV is based on Brat 2. GTA V is based on Heat.

I usually agree with that. Especially when they are made by other developers who seem to only care about the tech and disregard the rest, like the Demon's Soul(less) remake.
But i like the Resident Evil remakes (especially 1) and some Dragon Quest from SNES, PS1, PS2 era (that new 2D-HD doesn't look very good). I think Metroid Prime Remastered looks fine.
Remakes don't really replace the original games but they can be a nice experience

Some old PC games are a pain in the ass to get working on a modern system. I was trying to replay Mechwarrior 3 a little while back and it barely worked even with all the workarounds I did. A modern port of that would never happen, but it'd be nice to have.
