recommend me a GOOD single player 2 dimensional role playing game, optionally japanese (not language). with FUN and ADDICTIVE progression. The sort of game you can sink hours and hours and hours into and gives me the feeling of being a kid again playing runescape or something. But not that grindy. A little bit grindy is ok but Im not looking for something that grindy as runescape which takes like montths and months. Something with the scope of like a few dozen hours in TOTAL in terms of story & progression. Something GOOD. Something like skyrim maybe but 2d and more fun. With picrel kind of feel. Ideally i think turn based and where you play as a single guy not a whole party, but i dont care that much about that.

They should work on their UIs. One of the games (Avadon, I think) had this problem where you couldn't just press i to open the inventory and close it. You had to press i to open and then click the "x" to close. Bad UI can ruin an otherwise really enjoyable experience.

Honestly the definition of a nostalgic kids' game with how basic and cheap yet fun it is

theres grind but not much grind, its moreso a fuckton of game to go through. If you spend a lot of time using any weapon in the game, you 'master' it, which gives you either a new passive ability to equip, or 1 more point (slot) to equip them.
