"Streaming" technically is "here" but it's limited to shit like streaming from your home PC since that's the least retarded way to do it.
Although some people are tards and use GeForce now to remote play shit with mods like Marvel

I'm fully willing to admit it's probably a bad value.
But 90% of the issue is that they told literally fucking nobody that it exists.
And for the past two years every time I bring it up the reaction is always
>Oh? They released that last year/two years ago?

It wouldn't be so bad, if there were actual real communities.
The problem is there aren't any (on purpose, they were intentionally destroyed), and lonely people are vulnerable to being exploited because of this.

I think I might live near some google data center
stadia controllers also communicated directly to the servers through wifi which cut down in lag
it was pretty neat use of technology a shame it died despite it being better than geforce, and xbox

The gameplay was incredible, but the studio that put together the story were a bunch of fucking hack frauds. They squandered the greatest villain they had for a shitty gimmick fight at the end with a reskinned enemy instead of letting us fight the pinnacle of javelin technology and training. The entire game they hyped up your fight with this guy, who's stronger and faster than you, and when you do show up to fight him at the climax, he dies and in "reborn" as a jobbing world mob. Fucking morons.

Project M was a mod designed to "fix" Brawl's issues and make it more balanced it had a pretty dedicated competitive scene and everything but then the modders stopped updating it... for reasons idk, so they went on to form their own platform fighter called Icons Arena which was basically a F2P Smash Bros with Overwatch on top for good measure, it didn't last, literally the "we'll make our own theme park with hookers and blackjack" except nobody wanted to play at the theme park, they wanted to stay at Nintendoland

Icons: Combat Arena, one of the first attempts to have an indie Smash-like game that pandered to tourneyfags. It was made by two ex-Project M members that used the fear of legal action from Nintendo to stop PM's development and make their own game instead. They raised $6 million to make the game and wasted it in bullshit like weekly tea parties in expensive offices in California while the actual game never went from alpha/beta state. The game was an always-online beta only available in North America with only two modes (VS and training), 7 characters (4 of them clones of Smash characters), 6 stages that were variations of battlefield, 6 frames of imput lag due to the shitty engine they were using, an ugly nu-blizzard art style, and a gross pay2win scheme where you had 2 free characters and had to pay to get the rest of them and alternative costumes (or play thousands of battles online to farm coins to unlock them).

After the original studio died, the IP was sold to another guy, who proceeded to do change its name to Vortex Rising and do fuckall with it for years until he decided to change its name again to Rushdown Revolt, which changed the graphics a bit and added a couple of gimmicks just to crash and burn as well (it's last update was one year ago).

Even just ignoring that the designs are horrible, they're obviously trying to make characters who look like they're all headed to some dress-up party in seattle or something and they act like it too and putting them in violent videogames. why?

Streaming is as good as it's ever going to be. There's always going to be obvious input latency that makes certain games unplayable. You'd never play a platformer that requires precise timing over an internet network, for example. It's never going to replace local gaming. It's limited in its function, so it's always going to be a niche part of gaming.

and then that idea kinda died quick they realized people don't want to play intensive games on their phone most of the time

i can get thinking they'd replace handhelds but they didn't even do that in the end

Yeah, but just because a lot of people play on their phones doesn't mean it'll replace the mainstream gaming market. People who like playing CRPGs on their PCs aren't the same market as someone who fucking loves Cookie Run Kingdom.

tatoos in the past and in some prisons today have a purpose, but for most people, there is no need to identify yourself with a gang to stay alive, so its just retarded. women especially say fuck all with their tatoos that are all 3 kinds, and only 1 of them means it is a prostitute while the other 2 are flowers or some weird shapes.

Don't you people have phones?

Serious talk though, I actually got a Moga controller once that would work pretty good for smartphone gaming. It was a well-designed controller, decently-sized for portable play, ran on AA batteries. I could probably play Halo or PUBG or Diablo or any mobile game with it and be satisfied. I already had 2 DSes and 3DSes. The problem really was that very few mobile games available on the Play store were good, and those that were did not support the controller. Game developers killed mobile gaming, not the smartphone format itself.

I still play Nikke on my smartphone. I could play more Hogwarts: Magic Awakened too. But I don't think either supports the controller. I could use it to play emulated games, I guess, but that doesn't sell the idea that smartphones will be the next frontier of gaming.

Thirdies often play in shit like netcafes if they're interested in playing mainstream vidya. Even games where they have a "mobile" version available, you still see them play on those netcafes.
Fucking Pakistan has a thriving Tekken scene and they basically grab/salvage old arcade/consoles and slapdash shit together to setup arcades for people to play in.

I genuinely don't understand the complain about this. People pay up to $100 for shitty special controller and controller attachments made from cheap plastic that will work on like 2 games. Remember that Wii light gun or wheel that were actually useless.

The audience for Labo was clearly children and /v/ makes fun of it because only games for 12+ year old are cool.

This is how Bioware operates most of the time now. They try to stretch out pre-production for years until EA slaps them and they rush out something in a year or less. Everyone at that studio seems to afraid to be in charge and direct a fucking game, so nobody ends up saying "this is my vision and this is what the game will be like". That's what happened to both Anthem and Andromeda. Anthem being about flying only happened because some EA exec saw a build and said "that's cool".

That's what I've been saying all this time. If they operated the way nvidia does geforce now stadia would probably still be operating. If I ever actually left home paying for streaming as a service would at least have some appeal. Having to pay full price for games to pay on hardware somebody else owns that I have to pay a monthly fee for is not something I am interested in. Especially when the service runs the risk of shutting down and fucking me over out of my games. Fuck, if google had offered a download for the games to play on your own hardware I might have at least given it a shot. They did refund people for the games after it flopped, but there was no way to know they would do that at the time.

On the contrary these companies used to take advance of soccer moms' outcry to advertise their games for being controversial. Even when feminists tried to ruin their games like the female marketing manager at Universal Studios that cried about Tawa Bandicoot's "sexist design", Naught Dog were like "Fuck you bitch, the sexy female furry stays.".

But in an ideal world I'll be able to replace my big heavy gaming computer with a headless box I can slot into a rack in the basement or a closet (with A/C) and just use a client like a mini PC, laptop or streaming stick to access everything I own ("own"), on Steam, GOG or whatever.

This was their Luciferian "telling on themselves" moment. Satanists believe that telling people what you're about to do absolves them of blame because the people could have stopped them, but they also believe it's okay to "tell" people through cryptic symbolism hidden in plain sight.

They created Stadia knowing that it wouldn't last as a platform, whether they were going to kill it for a tax write-off, or if the technology was meant for something else and gaming was just a temporary front for testing, or both. Comparing it to other failures in gaming history was them saying, "We know Stadia will fail, we're going to make it fail like these other forgotten failures in gaming history."

They were charging full price for individual streaming-only versions of games, which at best would play worse, and at worst would (and did) get ripped away from you with zero compensation. "You will own nothing and be happy".
